Hi everyone I've got a newbie question : I currently have a website with a long URL which I want to re-direct it to a shorter domain which I've recently bought...which of the above should I use without affecting SEO ? Many Thanks for your help! |

Hi jereal88, The only method that will work for SEO is the 301 Permanent Redirect. This video may give you some insight on how to do this properly: |

That's true, but don't be in such a hurry. Put a link to the new site on your current site, up front and center. Methodically transfer stuff over, even add some new stuff. Start building links to the new site. Either way, now or later, you will eventually lose a little that must be regained. IMHO, it hurts less to toss up a link first. You could also do a custom 404 page. Paul |
