Default Using Bio Boxes Properly

I just have a fast question about using bio boxes to promote KWs.

As a rule of thumb, is it best to use just one KW in your bio box, or is two just as effective?

IE., will there be any diminishing returns if you use two KWs... will some link juice get lost or spread out between both, etc etc?

Thx for any feedback

Hi Joe,

Yes, link juice is divided among the outgoing links, so if you create two links you are dividing the available link juice. However, this doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

You should consider that link juice is likely being divided already by all of the outbound links present on the page where your article is posted. If their are 7 other outbound links on the page and you place a single link in your bio you will garner 12.5% of the available link juice. If you place 3 links in your bio each of your links are reduced to only 10% of available link juice, however collectively you have garnered 30% of the available link juice.

Keep in mind that acquiring link juice should not be your only concern. Link juice on it's own does nothing to help you, it must be channeled through relevant anchortext, or other relevancy influencing elements before you will benefit in SERP rankings.

Hi Don,

Thx for the reply.

So if it were you, would you stick with using just one KW in your bio, or would you use two?

I'm just trying to find the most effective way to use my bio for my KWs.

Hi Joe,

I generally use two links, one keyword anchor text and one with the URL as the anchor text. I use the URL as anchor for those "copy-and-paste" publishers that sometimes neglect to make the links hot, this way readers can still find my website.

I do mix it up sometimes and include an extra keyword link when it makes sense to do so and only if the link is to a different URL.

I have seen some interesting strategies where the author links to one or more high authority websites in addition to their own. This not only adds value for the reader, but may also improve the relevancy of the article page. The theory being that the more authority your article has the more value that will pass through the link to your own website. It does seem to make sense.

Thx for the help.

I will probably be using two links with two different KWs, Ie widgets 1 and widgets 2.

I just wanted to clarify if we should just be using one link in our bio boxes or not, basically.
