How can I get this level of Adsense ads customization?

I'm began building up some Adsense sites lately and I've been snooping around to see what other people do with their sites in order to increase their CTR.

I then stumbled across wisegeek.com and I saw that their Adsense ads were extremely customized to fit their site. If you're not really careful you could very well not notice them. Here is an example of what I mean: What is Manifest Destiny?

They even customized the "Ads by Google" part...how were they able to do that?
Furthermore they have unique fonts and the destination links don't show up as in usual ads.

They must get a crazy CTR by doing this.

Can anybody shed some light on how they managed to get this degree of ad customization?

Very high traffic sites have special arrangements with google and can display different ad styles. I expect wisegeek is one of those sites.

They are a premium AdSense publisher.

And you can't apply to become a premium publisher. AdSense seek you out instead.

So the short answer is: lots of work. Create a big website. Get lots of traffic (and so Google Ad impressions). Wait for AdSense to choose you. It'll likely be a long wait though

I fail to see what is so impressive about that site: I find it visually unattractive and I find the ads irrelevant to the content. Truthfully, I think it sucks.

What am I missing?

What's impressive is what the OP mentioned: customized adsense ad units. The site is a well developed site that ranks well with little effort for many of articles they publish. ===adsensemoney!

92.000 high quality articles says it all! It get TONS of traffic - how do I know? By the number of articles ofc...

if you own a website - WHATEVER website!! If you got 92.000 articles on that website - you will sooner or later recieve a massive amount of traffic for sure.

Unless it's nofollow or the articles aren't indexed.

you need promote your site more, big and upload many things that can visitor get daily updated about your theme and visit again.
get more and more backlinks that can you get more traffics and do social bookmarks for your all website pages so you can increase your website traffics.
