Google Display Network Bidding

I hope someone can share some knowledge with me.

I have been doing a lot of search PPC, however, I want to use the display network with banner ads.

I have created a large number of managed placements but I need a tool to help me figure out how much to bid to start to get impressions.

I have tried the brute force method of bidding a couple of dollars and I am getting impressions (the clicks are still to come).

Can anyone give me any good resources/techniques/wso's etc on how to approach the content network, how to bid and what works in terms of banners.
