Are a, the, an, ect., at the start of the domain name, a good domain. That is assuming you can not get the straight keyword. For example, www.alasvegaslawyer.com when unable to get Las Vegas Lawyer.

Yes it's fine if you can't get certain ones before that. Can you get with hyphens? That is better than adding a word. Here is the order you should try: lasvegaslawyer.com lasvegaslawyer.org lasvegaslawyer.net las-vegas-lawyer.com las-vegas-lawyer.org las-vegas-lawyer.net bestlasvegaslawyer.com or thelasvegaslawayer.com,etc (I personally dont like starting with 'a') " ".net " ".org best-las-vegas...com you get the idea Bill |

I would add a word at the end of the keyword if the keyword domain is not available.

I agree with Bill_Z, hyphens are the way to go in your case. I had to do that myself - I mean using hyphens. Also .com is better than .net or .org. |

If you really are going for las vegas lawyer, or anything else local, google maps is the way to go anyway. Google maps requires no SEO. Too many people stress out over domain names for whatever reasons. It just is not worth spending useless hours fretting over some mythical domain that you think is "better." Nothing exists like that. I always get slammed, but here again is my 4 tips for choosing a domain, regardless of niche. 1. Easy to spell, easy to say. 2. The shorter the better. 3. Avoid plurals. (see #2) 4. Avoid putting a string of keywords together in a domain. One is enough, if at all. It is what you do with the site, not domain, that will matter most. That's why when picking a domain for internet marketing forum, someone thought up warriorforum.com I wish people would go and do likewise. I mean seriously, most people would never get their-names.com if anything were true. And I just did a search for las vegas lawyers and there are a TON of lawyers using their-name.com. Or their-law-firm.com. Do a search for las vegas lawyers. Look at the google maps results. What are the domains? They are all over the map, pun intended. Paul |

I read on a thread somewhere here that hyphenated domain names are not favourable to Google...
