Someone expert in internal links best practice?

I just came accross this project and I am using the full URL to link internaly intead of the folder destination of that link (/folder/subfolder/page.html)

can anyone say which one is the best practice?

Hi

I'm not an SEO expert but this is what I've read about.

If you link using full URL search engines will treat it as a diferent site
and will take weight to your site.

The best practice should be instead of

www.yoursite.com/somethingelse.html

just use

/somethingelse.html

I always understood it was best to use the absolute URL (full address) although I wouldn't say I've ever seen any difference between them to be honest.
