Adsense income drop off?

Hi there,

When I was looking for different niches, I logged into Adwords, to find a niche that I could work in that would pay out well.

I put together some ads to see the costs, and in the ADSL niche, I saw lots of words that were costing $15-$25 per click, so I though I had found a goldmine.

But what I just cannot understand is that my site has started to generate some small numbers of visitors, ~200 per week but I have only had about a 0.04% Click through rate (4 clicks out of 1000), and the first click was only 89c, and the more recent have dropped down to 2cents pay out..

I have other sites that I have are up around the 2-3% mark, and that was what I was expecting..

Secondly I am not understanding the disconnect between the massive Adwords rate vs the Adsense amount..

Thanks
Aslan

    Hi Aslan,

    I looked at the website in your sig and checked Googles Keyword Tool to see which keywords were most relevant. Those keywords were costing around $2 per click for the top positions on the search network.

    AdSense ads are part of the Content Network and usually have a much lower CPC than search. You are typically displaying 5 or more ads on your page which means that some of those advertisers are bidding for these lower positions which pay you less.

    Your content and website theme doesn't exactly target folks that are shopping for service, people looking to buy today. If you add the right kind of content, then you could likely turn this site into a true money maker.

    Choosing a good topic is only the first step and a crucial one. However, the quality of your content will have the biggest impact on your earnings over the long run.

    I realize some folks advocate putting up lousy content to encourage people to click your ads as a way to leave your site. I don't believe that to be the most effective strategy. Attract buyers to your pages and you will find advertisers competing over your ad space. The greater that competition, the greater your earnings.

      Very simple....The CPC on adwords keywords is not the same bidding value as on content network.

      Therefore when google put adsense ads on your site it doesn't mean that you will get PPC the same price as seen inside the adwords.

      I suggest you do not go for high paying keywords, instead concentrate on getting lot of traffic.

      Traffic = $$$

      you cna make money with any Niche. And also try to improve your CTR.
