I am getting very very close to ranking number one on Google for some hard keywords. I have a keyword density of 6.98% and my competitors have a keyword density of 7.38%. They also have 103 internal pages on there homepage. I have 121 on my site (internal pages). Beat them on that. I guess I am wondering if up my keyword density, should I stop having more internal pages on the home page? This will lower my keyword density the more internal pages I add. Kind of confused on this. |

Hm I think that a 6.98% keyword density is already a little high. You should aim for 5% or so. Maybe they have the page optimized better (h1 tags etc)

Your keyword density would frighten me if it is only one phrase. Your internal links are obviously ahead of theirs. The obvious place appears to be to work on external links.

If you build quality back links on your targeted keyword, would be best for you. If your keyword is already have a good rank then don't make any on page changes. If you want to add content, then start a blog within your website, this would be much helpful.

7% keyword density can be high, or can make sense, just make sure that your copy make sense and don't feel like spammy. I usually just make sure that the keyword is in the title and in the first paragraph, and then I write the copy without worrying about density.

Yes, I understand that my keyword density is pretty high. However, their's is much higher (7.38%). I can bring more quality backlinks and improve my keyword density to beat their's and I should be able to beat them right?

That's an other important factor, there is the reason why you need more backlinks then he to rank higher.

ok I am going to put more PR6 links towards it increase my kw density to 7.25% and increase my internal pages to 150. That should do the trick don't you think? That and I am going to buy a business dot com and botw link. I can use my keywords in my domain sense it is in my url. They can't |

Depending on the OCI of your targeted phrase/niche, then backlinks would be my suggestion. I know you realize that is a super high density right?

| Before I would jump to that conclusion I would want to analyze their incoming links. If they have more backlinks coming in than you, it is more likely the factor at play, not the keyword density.

I think you should write for the engines and humans. Humans first though. Too much keyword density irritates me and seems spammy. Adobe ranks no.1 for ''click here.'' And click here is nowhere on the first page (first result): click here - Recherche Google= Why would that be? There are tens of thousands of ''Click here'' in anchor text all over the web pointing to their site. Go with high quality backlinks. Gab
