One of my sites have been acting strangely on Google lately. It was on the first page(#2-3) for a few months and then it suddenly disappeared. I updated the site with a post and built a few backlinks and it came back to #2 the next day. Then a few days later, it disappeared from the search results again. I made another post and built a few backlinks and it came back. This happened 4 times in the past few weeks. I have some other sites and such a thing never happened for them before. I cannot see what the problem is, as when I update it, it ranks normally but after one or two days, it disappears. Have you ever experienced such a thing before? |

YES, My site is doing that also and not only that it appears for 2-3days and rank to #5 and goes to #10 and disappears for 2 weeks and appear again with the same results going to page 1 for a few days then disappears for 2-3 weeks. I call it Cha-Cha dance since it keeps coming back to the same position |

Hi, I've been observing this on and off on a few sites for a while. From my testing, one reason that can cause it is a lack of sufficient anchor text variety in your backlinks and when you fix this (by introducing more variety), the site will be stable again. I'm sure there are other possible issues that could cause it as well. |

I guess your only remedy is to keep it updated and send new backlinks to it daily. I gave up trying to understand Google a while ago. Good luck |

| I guess that could be the problem as a big percentage of my backlinks have the same anchor text. I will try adding more backlinks with a number of different anchor texts, I hope it helps the website stay stable.

Same happened to me and lasted for 6 months. I didn't add content or backlinks. What happened to your site could happen without you adding content or backlinks.
