Default ARgh....

So, I've got my primary site.
It has a keyword density of about 3.6 for my primary keyword.
I've gotten a bit of backlinks from fiver.
And daily I add blog or news article posts, along with forum posts with my anchor text in the .sig.
I subscribe to Anglea's backlinks and work that religiously over a month.
I briefly made it to page 1 google, but have settled in on page 2, slot 2 or 3...
And each and every time Google Analytics updates, I LOOSE backlinks by their count.
It's beyond frustrating. I feel i'm doing the right stuff, but it ain't working!
*sigh*.

Hey jon,

First, don't worry so much about keyword density, as long as, in the article, you use the KW in the title(as close to the beginning as possible), then in the first sentence(if possible), if not early on in the paragraph, then a few times through the middle, and then once in the last paragraph/sentence, you'll be fine. If it's a short article, use your KW even less.

Are the Angela's backlinks relevant? I mean, if your niche is internet marketing, you aren't linking to your site from a medical forum? If so, those backlinks are worthless, and might even hurt your rankings. I'm talking purely in comparison to your competition. Who is going to rank better, the person who uses relevant backlinks in their linking strategy, or the guy who uses irrelevant ones?

Are you submitting articles to directories like EzineArticles? How about finding relevant blogs and adding helpful comments to posts? Try to be a guest blogger on blog with good page rank? Submit your site/blog to social bookmarking sites, ping your site...the list goes on and on.

Hope this helps,

Tasha

This is the kind of thing that people really shouldn't be allowed to write on this forum. It has been demonstrated times and times that the relevancy of the forum subject of discussion to your site has no effect whatsoever on your rankings. And btw that won't hurt your rankings at all else it would be too easy to crush your competition by creating backlinks from no relevant sites to them.
