No matter what your forum BL has PR or not. I think that you could get authority link juice if you got the BL from Authority Website.

I don't think Warrior Forum is a nofollow signature link site. I just checked the page source and saw there was no nofollow tag on signature links. ( I may be wrong, feel free to correct me if I am)

So how about identifying other forums that are not no-follow in sigs?

Forum backlinks are more important nowadays. We can get indexed quickly and also we are getting backlinks. But it depends on our posting. Better posting better ranking. One line response will not help to get better ranking.

Personally, I found them very useful for seo. first I am getting backlinks and second, I get some direct traffic as well.

Some forums gets crawled faster, some slower but eventually you will get your backlinks from posts.

FWIW, the sig links in this forum are do-follow and do pass link juice. The problem is that individual threads do not have any link juice to pass on. However, they do help you get indexed and are great for advertising...that's about it.

In regards to thomarv29, you mentioned it's easy when you have 20,000 backlinks. I'm surprised google doesn't consider that many links as spam, unless of course they are legit high pr sites. That's an impressive stat.

It is worth it, at least for the traffic that you get from forum posting.

If you sign up as a new member of a forum and make a few posts with links in your signature it seems like you usually get your account deleted. You need to be a regular long time member of the forum first. But, if you want to get links from hundreds of different forums that will not work as you only have time to participate in a very few.

Forum profiles are good to use.. but you also would need to consider replying to popular discussions inside the forum. Look for pages that have page rank and start with a valuable reply, which will help you get a PR point for your site.

Just a quick update on my little experiment:

We hit a lot of forums after reading this thread, we were careful to post about 10-15 posts in each forum before we even added the sig link, but eventually just realized that we were falling back on the rankings. I only just noticed now that some of the forums have actually deleted the account, in spite of having so many "valuable" and "honest contributions" on those sites.

So definitely, out of experience now I would say it does not make sense to completely build backlinks only using forums. I think its best to have an assorted set of backlinks so that your rankings are not held to blackmail by any single forum/blog owner at any point of time. And probably also to scale up on the number of backlinks even after the ranking has been achieved, just in case.

Any thoughts?

It depends very much by niche. If the competition is not very high, the links from forums can help you. If the competition is high, you must obtain good links from other places.

Forum posts are insane for targeted traffic. If you're frustrated with Google, go forum marketing. If you run out of forums then try vertical niche forums.

TOTALLY DISAGREE - this method is probably 80% of my SEO work and using this method I have several websites all ranking no1 on google for various and quite competitive search terms. So IT DOES WORK!

Forum posting is good when it comes to getting backlinks if it is done properly. What I mean is posting spammy replies or crappy messages will only cost nothing. So it's better to leave helpful posts or replies.
