It automates keyword research through the google keyword tool.

They were using the old version of the Google keyword tool and never updated to the new version. Now the legacy version is not working and they are finally forced to update.

I'm more than a little annoyed because I didn't realize they were still using the old data and in short... the old data sucked. The search volumes were way off because Google was including volume data for their search partners. That's ok if you're researching PPC I guess but it clouds the view if you're researching for SEO.

Yes, MNF has a manual captcha.

You only have to enter the captcha once per session.

Market Samurai had a similar issue this week. Some of the features wee not accessible dueto the Google change. As long as it is a known issue,externaland is being worked on I see no real problem. A problem would be them not doing anything about it, which thankfully is not the case.

I'd rather have a tool that goes down for a few hours or a few days here and there so that it remains current - than to have one that isn't updated and becomes useless.

I've had keyword tools I liked that became useless because they weren't updated.

Agree with a few others though about James promoting stuff while MNF is broken, the only email I really want to see from him is "It's Fixed!!"

I am pretty upset that the sale website for MNF is still up. They should have at least taken it down whilst the program gets fixed.

Knowing the data I get from MNF is outdated also would explain why my website building efforts seem to be so difficult and not ranking at all.

Update on Micro Niche Finder
As you know we have been having an issue with Micro Niche Finder for the past week. To recap, if you do a search in Micro Niche Finder an error message will pop up with a message letting you know your search cannot be completed. This is happening because Google has shut off access to it's legacy search tool which Micro Niche Finder currently uses.
Kevin has been working nonstop for the past week to get this problem fixed. He is devoting 100% of his time to this issue. We knew this was going to be a problem a few weeks ago when Google rolled out their new search tool. Kevin actually started working on implimenting the new tool as soon as Google released it out of beta because we knew it was only a matter of time before they turned off their old search tool. Unfortunately, this happened before we were ready.
The good news is Kevin has figured out how to get search results from the new keyword tool. The problem now is so much has changed with the new Keyword Tool that we have to change a lot of the functionality within Micro Niche Finder.

I don't have a solid date when the changes will be complete but I'm confident it will be "days" and not "weeks."

That's the thing for me, Robert. Got lemons, will make lemonade.

Who knows? Just maybe MNF will give a little something extra for our troubles, especially if we have to wait much longer to be able to use the program. In any event, some of us will be fine until then, although I feel for those who just bought MNF and had no idea they could not use it yet. Certainly the guarantee will begin from the time the software's usable, not from purchase date, right?

Double check that you are looking at EXACT in google and EXACT in MNF.

MNF defaults to EXACT match and google defaults to BROAD match if I remember right.

Yeah MNF has had a "hissy fit" for about 10 days.

But as a long time user (almost 2 years) they have continued to keep pace with changes that happen.

So just wait a few more days - we are sure that it will be Bigger, Faster and stronger.

MNF v5.2.2 is out and unfortunately, still doesn't function (for me personally, at least). Even writing our email in the window pop-up to report the bugs doesn't work! I have to go to Task Manager to get rid of it!

Somehow, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I'm pretty sure it work like new soon. Holidays are approaching at Amazon if you know what I'm saying...

I even just click on the MNF icon on my desktop and already 9 pop-ups appear saying there's a bug that need to reported! Sure sign that it still under repairs...

v.5.2.4 is out and it still doesn't work for me. I sent them the logfiles.

The MNF people told me I had corrupt data, so I deleted the files in the Data folder and it now works! Phew!

But 50 % of the time, it gets stuck during the search process.

I really appreciate the blazing fast speed it has now.

One reason why I stayed with Micro Niche Finder is because it is fast and less clunky.

It would be great if they improved the speed further. It can REALLY set them apart from competitors.

Do you get good searches, I posted a thread where I got really bad numbers on mine.

I stopped using it after I analyzed the data I was being given and found it quite generic and not good enough. Great for brainstorm though.

It appears MNF is only returns the first 3 digits of the search counts.

The programmer is aware of this issue and it should be addressed in the version 5.2.5 update that is anticipated to be released tomorrow.

Performance Recommendations -
A. Microsoft ended support for several operating systems this year. The programmer had mentioned that many issues are avoided by installing the latest service pack.

Please update any needed service packs for your operating system - Service Pack Center - Microsoft Windows
Restart your computer after you update.


B. Please update Internet Explorer from here: Internet Explorer 8: Worldwide sites

Even if you use Firefox for your browsing (we use Firefox too), in the background, Micro Niche Finder uses IE8 web browser controls to connect to the internet. No need to use IE or even open it – just update it. Restart computer after update.
