Hi warriors, I am a very beginner in IM, I started about a month ago and I feel that all the things I have done not only mind numbing, but also does not affect my SEO effort whatsoever. I will list all of the things I have done so far and would really like to get your input , curse me, praise me, I need any input I am lost. My website is ehealthydietplan.com 1. I purchased Market Samurai to do my keyword research and here are the keyword results that really interest me which I think is a great niche, using keyword match type Phrase: http://i.imgur.com/odcUK.png 2. Acquired the domain ehealthydietplan.com (generated according to market samurai's recommendation) and uploaded the tool that I have created, the tool is an automatic diet plan creator based on user bio information. 3. Hired someone from WarriorForum to do 3 articles and then I submit them to ezine and a bunch of other article directories. 4. Purchased AMR, spun one of the articles to 30% and then drip submit to article directories, spun the backlinks in the resource box too. As of the writing of this thread I have about 600 ish articles submitted. 5. Submit the site to directories (300 ish total) using Internet Marketing & SEO Forum | IMTalk.org , shout out to them, very awesome tool: 6. Right now my site is not even in the top 100 in all of search engines... Surely it has to have an impact somewhere? somehow? Which step that I did wrong? Did I choose the wrong keyword? What have I done wrong? |

I see nothing wrong in what you did. I think your keywords are far from being 'easy' even though they are not among the 'most difficult'. For example, the average PR of the top10 results for one of your KW is 3.8. That's not what I call an easy KW.

Did you search the competition using MS as some of your competition in the top 10 spots have some serious backlinks. I wouldn't expect to be ranking anywhere the top 10 anytime soon although I see there are some spots at 9 and 10 that you may be able to slide into.

You've decided for the wrong keywords. Too competitive.

the keywords were researched using MS video guide, the parameters are almost if not exactly like the ones described in the video for niche researching, here is the video that I followed: This video is from thirtydaychallenge.com I think. Did I follow the wrong method of keyword researching using MS? Is MS inaccurate? |

Like fellow warriors have said, you have chosen an extremely competitive niche to try and dominate. Even the long tail keywords in the diet market are very competitive. Don't let this put you off in any way though but you have to realise the magnitude of the task ahead for you to get your site ranking for diet related keywords. I would also like to say that you have done nothing wrong in the steps you have taken except maybe the directories, most are pretty worthless backlinks and you should choose the more important directories to submit to and forget the rest. I also like the idea that you have created a tool for the diet market. This is your USP for the site and you should be promoting this tool to try and bring visitors into your site. Having a freebie like this can be the best way of bringing in viral traffic. What I mean by that is that when word gets around about the tool you are giving away, the more visitors you will get and backlinks also. This can not only boost your direct traffic but the backlinks will boost your rankings eventually. This is something most people do not do and you should be congratulated for doing it! |

Without knowing the keywords you have gone after then I couldn't answer that to be honest. What I will say though is that you should be looking hard at the SEO competition in MS for your target keywords and reverse engineer how those pages got to be in the top 10 of Google for your target keywords. If you see thousands of high PR backlinks leading to those sites and they are pretty hot on their on page SEO factors as well then you are going to have to go the extra mile to get ranked highly. Like I said in my first post you should be concentrating on promoting your weight loss tool by going to the places where dieters hang out, like forums etc.. Try and get the word around about the tool. Try press releases, blog posts, and utilising the social networks for creating a buzz. I have had a look at your site and the tool is pretty cool, I am sure it would go viral amongst dieters if the word got out about it. Quote:

I must admit I've never actually done this, but I used to write eBooks and submit them to the eBook directories - this brought in a steady stream of traffic for about a year and a half after I submitted. Maybe you could build a little something into a Wordpress Plugin which leaves a link back to your site...the more competitive the niche the more Wordpress users will search for and use the Plugin - more links for you. If you're after targeted visitors though; have you tried searching some of the more established health sites and asking them to give away your app to their email list? If the app is good and actually useful to their readers, they'd be doing you both a favour! | |
