Default Adsense Estimated CPC

Newbie question here.

Does it really make any difference how high the Estimated CPC is when searching for profitable/niche keywords?

I thought that the higer figure would yield the higher return per click. Not so so far.

Highest Cost per click keywords means these keywords have more advertisers and you should pay more for appearing your ads for those keywords. But its not the exact amount. Sometimes these keywords cost much less for advertisers. It depends on other advertisers.

So does that figure then not mean much when it comes to visitors clicking on them on your site?

It's not always 100% accurate, there are much better ways to monetize your site though than AdSense these days.

That tool is misguiding. Some times it's accurate and sometimes not.

There are so many other factors involved in determining the real CPC.

It can be miles out. Estimated CPC for a keyword before we set up a campaign Avg. 0.46-0.80. Once we set it up the same keyword started at 2.36 and has now dropped to Avg 0.92. But... we've had a click today for 0.06 and one 3 days ago 2.79. All on the same keyword, nothing changed, phrase match.

Just frustrating when you go to all the work to find high end profitable keywords that dont have much competition.

I have some, for example, with 22000 global searches, less than 7000 exact match searches and the estimated cpc for them is over £70 and the highest is £105 lol.
