Default where is my site ranked? what is the best online tool to find out?

so i've been doing some seo on this site:
BUY FACEBOOK FANS!
with the keyword buy facebook fans.

usually i use seoserp.com to get my sites ranks in google. since i just started making a big push on links, i expected what i saw this morning. at first it was showing it raked 15, then about two hours later i checked again and it was not top1000. some what expected. however, tonight when i search the term with the linkvine tool, it shows it as 13. when i go to google, sign out, and clear the cache, it shows at 12. and seo serp still doesn't have it in the top 1000.

i guess i should be happy. i've just never noticed seo serp being off like that before. any thoughts? where do you see my site ranked? maybe i'm way off lol.

a little more explanation:
i don't have too many of my own sites i work seo on, but this one is relatively new. i should also point out that i'm not the top seo expert in the world, i just do what i'm taught.
with a new site i start out submitting a few articles here and there, and some minor things i've learned that DO make a difference. then i'll fire up the old online tools and use some more article writing and posts on a more consistent basis. this usually happens when i fire up those tools. the dreaded dance will start. a little here, then way down there, then up here again. usually after a couple weeks it steadies out and i can get them to move higher gradually. it's just weird to me that seo serp is not detecting the site, as i have been taught to use it and always found it to be reliable.

I use Firefox and they have a plugin called SEOQuake.
Also when you write your articles in relation to your site. How is your link juice flowing ?

There's also a Firefox plugin called "rank tracker" which is great to follow all the keywords on your domain that you're trying to rank for.

You can also check on scroogle.org to make sure you are getting the most accurate results.

I think you have made backlinks fast for your website and Google detected it not natural and your ranking dropped a lot. If you did it you should stop making backlinks for your website and after some weeks, you can start ti again but you should only make backlinks from quality websites and slowly.

hello, sroogle is now showing my site top ten and seo serps top 15. in my experience of how i do things, it is normal for the site to fluxuate when i start building quality backlinks with the tool.i also used some of my edu websites to build links to. usually when i start to do this, the dance happens then it settles down. my question was just why did seo serp not detect it yesterday? i still don't get it. it's usually pretty reliable.

thanks everyone for your input.
