Just out curiousity. I just finished shooting out an article about this very subject and wanted to post up some responses to see if my fellow marketers/website builders suffer from this egregious disease. Keyword paralysis, to me, is the incapability to focus on doing a set plan once you've found a certain set of keywords. Personally, i've broken free from the paralysis once i took my 20 or so long tail keywords, wrote webpages built around them, monetized them via adsense, and then let them bake for a month or two. You know what finally broke me from this disease? Seeing the revenue Once you see what works, this disease starts to fade..slowly, but it goes away. What sort of things have you done to overcome it? Are you still suffering from it? |

It's funny you mentioned it, because I've been thinking about this myself. What seemed (and seems) to make the difference for me is seeing my own data work rather than those of other sources. I try to not over think the process, but I'm always curious to learn more.

I try to plan out my keyword research and content generation/backlinking with project management software to help keep me on track - definitely helps you see your progress and keep on track

I bet a LOT of people suffer from this. The fun part is hunting for the "perfect" keyword or phrase. The hard part is actually doing the work after you've found it. That's what halts most people. Instead of buckling down and doing some work they go off and chase the next keyword, "money making" method, whatever. |

Identify a long tail keyword that people are searching for which does NOT have a ton of competition in google or msn. This is where I use my paid keyword tools wisely.
