These guys may charge later - as of now they are free.

I believe it has the capacity to scale up to mid-sized enterprise needs. However you figure it out

Here you go ...

Karma CMS :: CSS / XHTML Website Builder :: Hosting for Businesses, Artists, Bands and More

Thanks for that, Sandy

Looking forward to hearing from folk who have used platforms like Kentico and others of a higher standard again.

WordPress isn't serous? Imagine that.

Windows based but have you looked at Umbraco? Open source and very enterprise ready

Uh, Mike, if it's open source it can't be serious nor 'enterprise ready'. If the corporation isn't dropping at least 5 figures on a the product alone (yearly license fees are even better) and then another 6 figures yearly on consulting fees and employee costs it just isn't serious.

But, to offer some serious advice to the OP...

If your perceptions about open source solutions prevent you from using one, then I'd recommend Microsoft Sharepoint. It's well supported, can be made reasonably SEO friendly (provided you can get the developers and client to understand what it means) and integrates well within a enterprise level corporate environment. Here's a Sharepoint site I did a little bit of contract work on earlier this year.

Basically, I see the problem as "When you only have hammer everything looks like a nail". Don't get stuck on using one CMS system. Instead, pick one that best fits the client's needs. True, some clients need to have a powerful and expensive collaborative content system like Sharepoint but others will do fine with WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or even just a plain PHP script or just HTML. Use the client's requirements to find the tool to use, don't force the tool you want to use upon the requirements.

LOL. Okay but I didn't see him say that and I think these sites are kind or corporate enterprise level

Future Technology News & Reviews - Wired.co.uk

The Global Leader in Flash Memory Cards | SanDisk
Discover the World of Heinz
Movies, TV Shows & Games: Warner Bros Home Entertainment
Sony Music Shop: Køb din musik her! Albums samt merchandise

Serious enough for any enterprise I think All running on Umbraco

and yeah if you want to the company can shell out some cash with developers and support for it

Umbraco - Certified Partners
Well established but lesser known powerful CMS

I'd have to disagree with Wordpress. The OP is right its getting there but it can't handle everything an enterprise might want to throw at it. Its only recently began to flex its muscle beyond a good blog.

Personally, I use Wordpress for the majority of all my own websites, but it DOES have limitations when it comes to customisation at times.

Ok, now I'm impressed! I checked out Umbraco and saw that they have a very well-known Partner down here in New Zealand (Terabyte.co.nz) and when I then went and looked at some of Terabyte's work (built on Umbraco) it was ALL very good.

You've opened my eyes!

Thank you

Sorry. I just find it annoying when corporate IT managers look down on open source solutions that will do exactly what they want just because they're free. It's one of those perception things.

I know what you mean about the limitations of WordPress, especially for internal or restricted access corporate apps. One can be guilty of using it in a hammer/nail scenario too.

I do like Sharepoint for situations where integration with other Microsoft services and apps is important but I found it's a bit messy for a public facing presence and promotion site. It's doable but a lot of extra work on the part of admins and designers.

Thanks BGMACAW... you summed it up beautifully. It really is a perception thing amongst IT managers.
