Default ezinearticles - Excessive Anchor Text

I just got a notice from ezine saying I have excessive anchor text. The article is short about 262 words. Is this why? I am trying to get a backlink for long tailed words. The characters are about 31 letters. Please help in their rules there is no mention of this. It seem like they make up things as you go along.

Thank you for your comments they are really helpful.

Their updates are often on their blog, rather than in the "editorial guidelines" as one would expect (and perhaps prefer).

The article length is indeed the problem.

They strongly prefer articles of 400+ words (don't we all?), and will allow you to use 5-word keywords as your anchor text in the resource box, if you go over 400 words. If you're under that, they allow only 3-word keywords. (It's the number of words in the anchor text, not the number of characters, that matters).

An article is either 400+ words, or it isn't. And from their perspective, a different rule applies in either case. It's discussed and explained in some detail in their blog, which is here.

Alexa Smith ...

... writes stuff that snaps, crackles and pops, even if it's only about cauliflowers.

Please follow the rules of EZA if you want to succeed in getting your articles approved by them. EZA is still the best as far as article marketing is concerned. Read their rules before you re-submit the article. And it is better to make your article word count up to 300 words, at least.

Theis foud in thier editorial guidelines:

Editorial Guidelines For Submitting Quality Articles To EzineArticles.com

Item F. xii

We do not allow articles which have strategic keyword anchor text links in the body to your domain that do not add informational value to the article. Any use of anchored text links to websites that you own should add value to the article topic rather than stand out as an obvious abuse of anchored text link. The goal with this policy is to be a good net citizen by only allowing articles that add value with the anchored text links rather than for pure SEO reasons. Please limit your anchor text link length to 3 words in an article that is less than 400 words and 5 words in anchor text if your article is more than 400 words.
Note: Common words are excluded from this word count. Those include: to, is, in, on, it, and, at, by, a, an, for, of

Your article is kind of short. I usually only include 1 link yet get a lot of traffic. Focus on quality of the article helps boost traffic.

For some people the scenario is different.

Maybe we only need the link juice from Ezine?

If thats the case, there minimum requirements are fine! (250words)

(who cares if anybody reads my article, as long as google indexes it and gives me the link so that my money site rises in the SERPS (thats the objective right?) im happy)

Some people want the click through's and others dont.
