Default PPC Tactics For Beginners

Hi warriors,

Let's give few tactics for beginner adword users .

My advice is
  1. Optimize your account continuously to improve your performance
  2. Properly structure your account
  3. Fine tune your campaign with negative keywords
  4. Bid for the optimum position
These are the four advice I want to give .

What about you.

Thanks,

Hi, make sure you target end of the search cycle keywords. These are search terms of people ready to spend money. Early in the search cycle search terms are people looking for education. They are click happy but don't convert to sales well. Also, check out this site for a free sample list of buyer type keywords.

Adwords is a fickle beast, i have been using it a couple of years and have only just started to get to grips with it. I suggest you read this guys blog about adwords, its very good. you should also check out i guide called double digit ctr by a fellow warrior, again its great information.

If you are new to adwords then you should learn all you can before you post your first campaign. When you do post a campaign, make sure you set a daily budget and bid amount on keywords. I use the 10/10 rule. I set my daily budget at 10 dollars per day and the bid per click at 10 cents. You could go lower if you want but I have found that google will not run my ad if I go much lower than that. It will take some trial and error before you get a winning campaign. You will loose money untill you get a winner. just make sure you monitor your campaigns to keep it at minimum.

There is nothing more important than reading blogs in the industry that talk about PPC and understand exactly how it works for you to be successful.

If you have any specific question, Ill be glad to answer for you but posting that you're new to ppc and want tactics wont get you too many responses (i dont think, maybe im wrong)...

first and foremost you want to do the right keyword research which im sure you are using the google keyword tool which is the best by far for me. you can see estimated cpc cost, etc.

are you local targeting, nationwide, worldwide? make sure you set the right settings for your campaign or you will lose a lot of money very quickly.

Mike,

If you are new to Adwords, stay away from SpeedPPC. It's a terrifc product, I use it a lot, but it's for an experienced PPC-er.

It can generate thousands of adgroups for you, literally in seconds, but while you are learning PPC, you don't want that many. They can quickly run up your PPC costs!

SPyFu is a good product. The data is 30 days + old, so don't take it as gospel. And use the free version until you are sure it's the right product for you.

Hi Mike,

Use deliminators! These tell google if you want a broad match, phrase match or exact match. You can save some time when you add them and watch a free tutorial video for free at Keyword Secretary

They (deliminators) can make a world of difference for your impressions and click-through-rates!

Mike,

I think one of your responders nailed it on the head. You really got to bring something to the table before asking for help. The members here are incredibly generous with their time and expertise, but I personally, am hesitant to help people who won't help themselves first. Read up on blogs. Uberaffiliate has an entire guide about ppc on his site for free. Perry Marshall's definitive guide to adwords was a great help to me. Google's own guides are very useful. As for general strategies, follow this piece of advice and you won't go wrong: always be relevant.

I hope to read about your successes in the future, Mike.

tx82,

Look at the date of the thread and when the op responded about this. It has been maybe 4 to 6 months and you can learn a great deal in that amount of time and maybe not so much a newbie anymore with what he has uncovered with adwords.
