Both strategies have advantages and disadvantages. You may have a mixture of the two. That is what I do.

Steve, great question. I do both. Here is what I mean. I still recommend starting with small niche websites because they are easiest to test and actually rank for targeted keywords. So, start a website with 5 to 10 articles (and do as many as you can handle/afford/want to). After the 5 to 10 articles, I then only build up the sites that are performing well (earning money) or are ranking well in Google. So many of my sites will never receive more content than 5 to 10 articles. However, the "winners" get built into larger authority sites. Does that makes sense?

So, I have both small micro niche sites (all of my sites start this way), and then I have others that have grown into larger sites.

I know you mentioned earlier that you put 10 sites on a different ip address. How do you do this? Does that mean you have different hosting companies for every 10 sites you have? I thought the ip address is from your own PC? Can you explain?

Okay, your own PC does have an IP address, but your websites are not on your PC - they are on servers somewhere else (like Bluehost.com or HostGator.com). Each server has its own ip address as well, or some hosting companies actually get multiple ip addresses, and you can buy packages of these ip's from them. If you look at places like seohosting.com (which is actually hostgator) you can buy packages of multiple ip addresses. Hope that helps.

Thanks that does help explain it. However, why does one need different ips in the first place? Does google see having all your sites on one ip as "click fraud' or something?

This will increase the visibility in Search Engine. Make sure you add more related keywords to the site. I use Google alerts to get latest update for my niche.

Interesting read, i am intending to automate your process from research to domain buying, requesting articles , importing articles , dripping and submitting articles. If anyone has anything that they would most like automating what would it be? i.e this post is old so now perhaps there are other factors to this process such as directory submitting / social bookmarking?

I am a programmer and love to create robots, beating the captcha and saving hours of time.

Anyone have any suggestions for what they would like automating?

captchas, articles, domain buying, website creations (using a WP skeleton) can all be automated.

Someone must already be doing this and hoovering up the niche markets don't you think?

Could you explain how you find more related keywords to your niche ? Also, how does google alerts give you info on your niche and how is that related to keywords?

Wow, congradulations I've been debating if I should give adsense a shot. Theres so many conflicting opinions out there, some say its dead, but your clear proof that there is money to be had. So, you say you started about a year ago? how long did it take you to get to a full time income?

Thanks Spencer for the great post on Adsense! I'm thinking of doing an Adsense site to see how it goes, since I put some Adsense on a basic page I have to sell a few mobile accessories and already made a bit of money which I was really surprised about!

I honestly didn't think people actually click those Adsense ads, but I guess some do, which prompted me to look into it more and if I can make a site that brings in a bit of money each month then why not! It would be great to be able to scale up to the level you're at!

I was banned just now and have only my full time job.

So it is not good to quit job if you are only dependent on Google.
