Arrow Google AdWords and bidding on names

Hello there fellow Warriors,

I'm working on an interesting project that my boss signed me on to. I do some part time keyword research and landing page building for a small Internet company in my area. They sell to non-profits. Particularly, to the advancement departments within those non-profits. Advancement departments are in charge of fundraising. I'm sure everyone's seen a donation box at a McDonalds, well, this is that on crack: advancement professionals ask rich people for money.

The idea is that best sales are done one on one, so if a non-profit can sell the philanthropic individual, they'll get money for their cause. To find out how to do so the best possible way - and thus get the most money - they have to do what's called "prospect researching." And what my boss has noticed was that a lot of them simply look their person of interest up in Google.

He has decided to build a network of 400-500 landing pages geared to a specific name and some basic information on the individual. The visitor would then fill out an email form, get a preliminary report, and the company would follow up with them and try to sell them on the service.

What I'm doing is, I've created the landing page template and I'm filling out names and some other information to match them. We then create 100 keywords with related key phrases, and put them on AdWords. Right now I'm at about 30 landing pages, and I have 100 to go for this first batch.

My question to you all is: is this a good idea? Does anyone have any previous experience with this before? Google seems to approve of it, because our ads are live. What do you all think?

Best Regards,

Very interesting theory. It might just be crazy enough to work

I'd be very interested to see what kind of quality scores you get on those ads!

I've seen this concept somewhere on Digg before. I think it was about a year ago. The actual idea came from that one guy who tried getting hired by multiple companies, so he made landing pages geared towards the decision-makers. His idea was that they would inevitably google their name, and see their ad. I forget who this guy was, but the story made the rounds on the web and even got it's way on the radio, where my boss heard it

Not sure exactly what you're asking, using people's [firstname] [lastname] [keyword] combinations - and combinations like that (for example, [firstname] [middleinitial] [keyword] or [firstname] [middlename] [lastname]) - is the crux of my question to the general public.

I don't know is this method works and can you really sell the products with this method?
And how much do you pay for adverting them and how much do you earn. I am curious to know it.
