Is there anyway to make a search engine crawl you more frequently?

I remember the meta tag "revisit" but I don't think it works anymore. Does it? Is there a way to make the search engines come back sooner than 30 days (which is what they're doing to me at the moment).

Build more backlinks and crawlers will come more often. You can also login to Google Webmaster Tools and set the crawl rate speed. It allows you to adjust it higher and higher every week.

Update site with fresh content and when backlinking do not link just your homepage, but build links for all your inner pages, that way you tell Google that your whole site is important, and important sites are getting crawled more often.

In addition to all the above replies. There is an option in google webmastertool that you set to crawl your site faster. However, if your site doesn't update frequently, it will be waste of bandwidth to crawl your site too fast.

Okay you guys said there is a setting inside of Google Webmaster Tools. I just want to make sure that I'm setting the right thing.

1. login and click on the domain name
2. click on site configuration
3. click on settings and then adjust the sliding bar?

Is that right?

That is correct. You just adjust the rate to crawl your site.

what if you post your website on a forum like this

does that do anything ? will google see it here then crawl it?

I would recommend Google choosing your crawl rate, they recommend it as well.

Frequent content changes, new links, pinging, bookmarking and of course telling google a crawl frequency in webmaster tools.
