| On Googles Adword ads, on their 1st page for any search 1-10, There are adword ads on the right hand side on a column, but also on the Top in a light yellow background. What is the difference between the 2? can you choose where you want your ads? if so on which setting on your adwords panel ? |

i.e- did you enter a keyword that would signify something local (car rental, lobster restaurant, private school, etc.) and is there a map in the top right corner? | |

The ads on the top, above the SERPs are the same as the ones on the right side. Some call those "above the SERPs ads", others like you have, "in the yellow box". To appear there, you obviously have to rank there. In case you don't know, your ranking is determined by multiplying your bid and quality score. But you also have to have a minimum QS. Therefore, if your QS does not meet the threshold, you just won't be "in the yellow" even if your bid would rank you there. Sometimes, you see no ads up there and there can be up to three. There can be up to 8 on the right side. |

Click rates are generally higher the higher your ad appears. Just like your natural ranking listings.
