Default my competitor is getting backlinks using a spam bot

I was looking through my competitors backlinks, and he is getting most his links from spambots, most of these links are from warez forums that has pornographic images, yet he is still ranking high for my keyword.

he's using squidoo BTW

its weird because im trying to be legit, and hes screwing around with the market << no pun intended BTW

In some cases social site + spam links = win.

With sites like squidoo & hubpages that give you a page on their main domain (not a subdomain) and link to it internally from trusted pages via tags this method works.

Probably not the best long term strategy but spammy profile/forum/blog links will work in some cases. Getting links from pages that hold a high page rank and are relevant will usually beat this but these links can be hard to get.

Right. These are just short-term strategies but it's way too easier compared to building relevant links to high PR sites. Spammy but very effective.

Those were the cases that we have to accept, it's either you do what they does or stay in what you think is right. It's really up to you. But IMO it's not advisable to do those things. Continue on what you're doing and result may come along.
