I was looking in my AdSense account earlier. I have always questioned how accurate these stats are. But I notice something really strange, which kind of proves their tracking is not that good. I have two blocks of AdSense in my articles. One at the top, under the title. And another one mid way down the article. So you would think that both of these blocks get an even number of impressions, right? I guess not. So far today, I have only got two clicks total, on two different articles. One to the top block, and none to the middle block. So if two different articles each got one click, then either the top block got two clicks, or the middle block got one. Or am I missing something? The stats from StatCounter never match AdSense count. I have no idea which one is right, if either one is. But as I have found anomalies in the AdSense count that contradict themselves, I have to lean towards StatCounter as probably being the one that is right. Who knows. But I often wonder how many clicks I am losing due to AdSense inability to keep track. |

Are you using the new 'beta' Adsense interface? I saw new reporting which shows what percentage of the time an ad was able to be shown. That could cause a difference from statcounter stats. Also, statcounter may be counting some bots that Adsense ignores.

I too have doubts about Adsense's ability to count. For example I have two sites with similar (not duplicate) content and the same domain name word i.e. site.biz & site.co.uk. Ad units in same position on both sites. Adsense shows a click on both sites but only counts one? Adsense does this ALL the time and it makes no sense to me. Why doesn't it count all clicks? So getting back to the OP, it would be great if Adsense made sense. |

I've frequently found google data to be incomplete both in the adsense tool and the analytics tool. They are never in sync with each other nor other traffic sources that record stats such as squidoo and ezine articles. I use it as a general guideline rather then specific statistics. |

I looked at my stats again, this time at exit link activity. It shows 22 clicks on a Google ad today, yet my AdSense account only recorded three clicks today. Seems like a pretty large discrepancy to me. Seems to me that G is stealing from me. I would complain, but I don't think they even read their email. There really is nothing that anyone can do in this situation, as G is the big dog and doesn't care what anyone thinks. You can't take them on, and they know that. |

And the reason you see different impressions for the ads on the top and bottom is because unless someone scrolls down to see your bottom ads, then they won't be counted as an impression. So for example, I visit your page and see the top ad. I don't like the content, so I leave the page. I never scrolled down to see the bottom ad thus no impression is counted. | |

| I'm not sure about that either but how do you know that the bottom ad has loaded into the browser if you can't see it? :-)
