Make your backlinks natural. Don't try to increase your pagerank a lot now when your website is new. Naturally, number of low pagerank websites which link to a new website is very fewer than number of high pagerank sites which link to it.
If i were you, i didn't concentrate only on increasing pagerank. There are many other factors for ranking results and concentrating only on pagerank is a mistake.

If you website is new then do not go in fast way. Do only the quality work for your site. Generate only quality backlinks for your site.

Can you clarify what your saying here a little more. I don't understand what you mean by "raising Google alert." If your building backlinks to a page you want Google to find those links other wise they won't do you any good as far as helping you rank your pages.

I wouldn't be too concerned with building to many links too fast. But what ever "number" you do decide on whether it's per day or per month just make sure that you can sustain it.

Googlenoia? LOL!

Every reply just cargoes on!

Like:

"Don't try to increase your pagerank a lot now when your website is new."

"If you website is new then do not go in fast way."

Complete rubbish.

You want to raise a google alert. You want them alerted that your site
is out there and getting votes! How are you going to do that by going
at a snail's pace? The faster the better, regardless of PR. Higher PR
the better, but a backlink is a backlink. Pile them high and deeper!

Paul
