How to prevent wordpress homepage duplication?

Hey guys and gals,

I have a wordpress blog with a static homepage.

I've just noticed that google has indexed more versions of my homepage: mysite.com/page/1 and mysite.com/page/2 and so on

In normal blogs these are older pages containing excerpts of former posts. On my site, it's just the homepage over and over again. Any idea on how to solve this?

You can prevent Google or other search engines from crawling and indexing some of your folders or other parts of your website by editing robots.txt. You can make robots.txt file for your website very easy in Google webmaster tools too. This way can be used if you have access to ftp server of your website.

Use the Platinum SEO plugin. It will set the canonical tag properly for your WordPress site to avoid any issues like this.

The latest WP version has the rel canonical tag incorporated so that should resolve the issue!
