Default Small success story

I joined this forum not to long ago and have asked users for help on numerous occasions and have received really good information. So thank you for that.

I started a niche website, mainly selling golf balls and posting random tips on golfing (using ezine articles is helpful). Although I haven't sold many golf balls, its the content that has brought viewers to my website and clicked through the interesting adsense that google has generated for me.

The best marketing tool I've found for niche marketing is connecting to a forum(not this one). One that fits your niche.

For me I found golf forums and got involved with discussions and built my integrity. After 950 posts (which took a week), I was able to post links to informational websites that had everything to do with discussions within that forum. Being the interested golfers these other users were, they clicked through to my website and found it to be interesting rather than some stupid spam. And with generous feedback came more visitors.

Now, I update my golf website daily. I fill orders for golf balls every now and again but my money has mainly come from adsense.

I started making $2 - $5(on a good day) with adsense. And now that its more popular I've been making $25-$35, daily and consistently.

Using forums for what they were intended is a great tip!

That's why I'm always talking about my forum traffic (to my sites).

It's simple, find a forum related to your niche, & start helping forum members the best you can.

If you really want to gain trust, don't be affraid to post links to another site that isn't your site, If it will help answer another forum members questions.

Those links that don't belong to you, will help build trust & provide info that you might not have on your site.

I know it sounds crazy posting links to other peoples site, trust me it's been working for me for over 2-years.

I have one forum alone that sends me around 5,000 uniques per month (every month) for free. That's around 60,000 uniques per year, for one site.

I participate in that forum a lot (in the past) & have over 4,000 forum post. All I do is help answer questions about a hobby that I enjoy. If I don't have the answer on my own site, I'll Google the keywords to the other forum members question, & post a link to another helpful site. Most times I know the answer, since I'm really involved in this specific niche/hobby.

My sig is a simple text url (no hyperlink).

Now I'm building a new site that is 100% related to the old site that gets all that free forum traffic.

I funnel the old traffic into the new site, the recycled traffic gives me a 2nd chance to get more Adsense clicks.

It's working, my new site has a +10% CTR on the new sites Adsense.

That's pretty nice Novox. How are you ranking for your keywords in the search engines?

Good job Novox & Yukon!

SEO can drive you crazy sometimes, especially if you are checking your rankings every day.

Forums are a great way to get decent traffic to your site and you are given the chance to build trust and credibility before traffic even hits your site, which can be extremely helpful.

Thanks for the tips too. Very helpful.

Congrats Novox! That's awesome! I love to hear moderate success stories like yours! It encourages and motivates me to keep on truckin! I'm not working with AdSense anymore, but rather working on perfecting my SEO on- and off-site to rank up there for some pretty competitive terms. Plus, making better, and better sites.

I've seen alot of your posts, Yukon, and really like your attitude and consideration towards other Warriors. Keep up the good posts!

Thanks Scott!

I try to help anyone If I can.

If you have something to contribute to a thread don't worry about what anyone else has to say. I'm sure I've pissed a few people off once or twice (lol), I don't try to, but everyone doesn't see eye to eye all the time. It's no big deal & I wouldn't take anything like that personal. You have a right to post a comment just like anyone else, just don't post anything that will get you banned from the forums.

This is a great forum with tons of free IM info!

It only gets better when everyone jumps in & shares what they know about IM.

Myself, I'm an Adsense guy trying to get into CPA, so I've been reading a lot over in the CPA forums. I think I need to diversify my sites a bit...

I'm using forums somewhat effectively on my main authority site, but I keep reminding myself that while this is good, targeted traffic, it is active traffic - I have to keep participating in the forums, or it will dry up.

I have my analytics divided into "active" and "passive" categories. Active traffic will pay the bills, but passive traffic is what will allow me to move on to another project.

My ultimate goal is to build an income stream, not another job for myself. I have one of those now, and that's what motivated me to start the online business in the first place!

(pardon any spellih errors, posting from my iPhone)

That's true, still I can get my forum traffic very easy.

The way I do forum post is:

1) I find the highest viewed threads from the entire niche forum.

2) The threads have hundreds of thousands of views already, then I just start owning that thread. I post a comment whenever any other member comments with a question. If I don't know the question I do a quick Google search, & provide a link for the other members.

3) If you focus on an already existing thread with thousands of views, that thread just keeps growing like crazy, because while helping members you keep bumping that single thread to the top of the forums, more eyes keep seeing the same thread over & over & over... day after day.

I check that forum thread once a day, my goal has always been to be that person that always has to have the last word (lol ). The reason I want to be the last person is, these threads are HUGE, & the members jump to the first thread & the last thread.

If your forum post is always last, you'll have eyes on that sig thousands of times.

Note that I never spam forums, I actually jump in & try to help other members in my hobby niche. I enjoy the niche so it's something I would do no matter If I was into IM or not. In fact that's what started me with IM.

When I first started posting in those niche forums I didn't have a clue what IM was, now I see everything I do & say as a chance to monetize traffic.

It's more than a backlink, helping other forum members is about building trust. Trust trumps SEO & backlinks anytime!

Keep in mind I get this free traffic without a single hyperlink (just a simple text url), not a bad trade off.
