We just put up our first Amazon Wordpress site two days ago and it has been indexed. It is a toy niche and appeared at #227. I use What Page of Google Am I On? to locate the site. Here is the problem. KEYWORD: toyname WEBSITE: http://www.toyname.com doesn't show up on Google. WEBSITE: www.toyname.com doesn't show up on Google. WEBSITE: toyname.com shows up on Google. Is this related to the canonical tag? Is this broken? If so, how do I fix it. Thanks mwiab |

You're good to go. www is unnecessary unless you really really want it and then I'd have to ask you WHY? Wordpress kills the www automatically. Don't worry about it, carry on and makes lots of money. oh yeah, just remember to use http://yourtoy.com when linking back to your site, not http://www.yourtoy.com. |

*agree* w/ jasonmorgan, not important HOW you're indexed (with or without www-, just that you ARE indexed). Moving up in the ranking will happen. Side note: Wordpress IS changeable URL-wise, under settings->general (left bar) set both URL fields to include www. and this will change it site-wide. An even more general approach is to modify htaccess on linux, but un-needed if you follow the above. (BTW if you mess up the URL you've "broken" the database, so be extra careful, triple check your spelling, and backup your database (and know how to restore it, just in case).) Not a huge deal but if your preference is to force www into the URL, this will work. |
