trouble building backlinks... am I doing something wrong?

Hi.
I'm fairly new to the internet marketing world. I picked up a few course that really opened my eyes to how this stuff works. One course is targeted to clickbank and one is targeted to physical products. Both seem to offer a lot of value. I've been implementing the strategies for the past month or so and I have 2 sites up- one aimed at clickbank products and the other at physical products. I'm in the "backlink building" stage for both of them. I've decided to start with the physical product site first. So far (over a period of about a week and a half), I've gone to socialmarker and created bookmarks in the "best" as well as the "do follow" for my site. Then I created an article and spun it using a spinner and submitted it to a couple of article directories (goarticles and ezinearticles so far) I also made a Squidoo lens (with the same spun article) and also tweeted that on Twitter. So far, Market samurai is not seeing the site indexed and not a single backlink. I am not under any delusion that this is "all it takes" I just want to see 1 backlink show up before I go and dedicate all of my time to this process. I just want to know that this is actually going to get my somewhere. So, sorry for the long post, but my main question is how long should I expect before I get indexed by Google. The courses I bought and the stuff I've read online seem to indicate that social bookmarking alone can get me indexed in 24 to 48 hours, but I've simply not found this to be the case. Any help is appreciate here. Thanks!

Back links do not show up over night! First, it seems you state your site is not indexed yet? If this is a fact, get the site indexed in Google first. It is easy... Next, sit back and relax a minute. Backlinks can take a few weeks to start showing up. I know this makes a person anxious but, it is how things are on the net!

Oh yeah, I use www.buildingyourbacklinks.com for getting back links easy!

If you are using Wordpress make sure your Privacy under Settings is set to visible.

If your website is new, write a press release and submit it to some pr directories to get the word out. This will help you get some free publicity as well as helping your website to get indexed. Then, continue to write some high quality content and give it away for free. People love content that is high in quality, and this will definitely generate some one way links back to you.

Make sure to be consistent with
spreading your content out there.

Good to see you're making the effort, keep at it and you'll see it pay off.

As for backlinks, yes it does take time for them to propagate, article directories take their time sometimes to publish your article so you'll need a bit of patience there.

Consider writing articles where there is "flow" to your article. A good article is not always something that is "written" well but something that has "conversational" flow to it. You could make use of a digital recorder and record your thoughts first, replay it to yourself and see how it sounds, and modify it accordingly before writing the article. Another good tactic is to use something like Dragon Naturally Speaking to record and convert your voice to text, the way you speak is more fluid than the way you write at times.

Hang in there, i know its not easy, try to commit to 20 backlinks a day and google free traffic system. they should be at the top. its free and awesome. it will deffinately get you up the search engine without spending a penny.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the help! I can't believe how many responses I got in less than 1 hour!
As I'm new to this, I'm trying to take in as much GOOD information as I can. One thing that I've heard a lot about it "white hat" and "black hat" methods. I really want to stay away from anything that is going to get me banned or de-indexed. Anyone know if this google free traffic system is going to do that? I'll keep working at it. As I said, this is my first time doing this. I'm sure once I start seeing backlinks show up, it will really motivate me to press on even further. Until then, thanks so much for the helpful advice!

Write articles. Build social bookmarking links to those articles. Build social bookmarking and article links to those profile pages of the social bookmarking sites. Repeat while keep finding new article sites and social bookmarking sites.

Let's do a quick reality check here, If guru said it takes a long time and hard work, you would never brought the product or course at 1st place... If you are new to IM, that's something you will realize

better know it now, than after you purchase so many courses...

You have to look for long term value...

anything you mastery in life takes time, trial and error..etc..

be patient, you will be there


Step 1:

make sure your privacy in word press is turned on.
the options says allow google spider to visit...

Step 2:

Submit Your Sitemap to google webmaster
Submit your site to analystic
Submit Your feed to feed burner

Step 3:

Use software like RSS bot submit your feed to all other major
RSS directories

if you just start out, just submit to these two sites:

feedagg.com
feedage.com

your site feed is something like this:

http://yoursite.com/feed

assume it's a wordpress site

Step 4:

make sure your host your site, at popular host
such as hostgagor...

Step 5:

Social book mark, every PAGE at least 5 of them

Step 6:

It sounds like your articles are already out there..

Social bookmark: every article links
Ping them all

pinggoat.com

Step 7:

Takes all URL's above, make into RSS feed

go to link2rss.com

Step 8:

Take the feed from step 7, submit to RSS directories..

If you do all the steps above, with 24-48 hours

Your site will show up...

go to google type:

site: yoursite.com

it should show up, if that's what you mean by index.

if you target at certain keywords, it's not showing up your site
at 1st page, that means you have more SEO work to do..

Thanks again for the help. I've read a lot of posts on here and my experience still does not seem to be lining up with what most people say. From what I've read on the forum, it seems social bookmarking usually gets sites indexed in less than a week (much less) - I don't mean on the first page of Google- I just mean to have Google see my site at all. I'd be happy with page 1000! I'm sitting here at about two or two and a half weeks after social bookmarking article submission, web 2.0 submissions and even signing up for a 3 way link service and not a single backlink is recognized by market samurai and google doesn't even see my site. I assume Market samurai's page rank tracker is accurate. I should mention too that I use my main keyword in all of my anchor text on my articles etc. I also have privacy set to public, I've submitted a sitemap etc. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks again!

rank tracker in MS is not working properly lately. It shows me as not even indexed for a keyword that Im on page one for.
Im sure they will straiten it out soon
