It's not a PR9 unless your link is on the home page.

PAGE RANK is not SITE RANK.

He means that the actual forum or thread you post in doesn't share the PR of the domain or its high PR pages. E.g.

mydomain.com can be PR9
mydomain.com/jazzercise/index.html can be PR0

And I wish they would zap these useless threads with crazy, illogical,
hyperbolic, nonsensical titles.

But then look at some of the responses. Complete blind-spam-cargo:

"Will check them out. Thanks!"

That's how you recognize an incompetent SEO, if they offer "PR9 or PR10 backlinks".
Means they don't have the slightest clue of even kindergarten level SEO basics.

Edit: Agree with paulgl..sometimes i wish there was a closed SEO forum where only real people discuss about SEO strategies and none of the garbage comments are to be found...

I/We are not bashing the poster here, rather general. Do me a favor and go to fiverr or many link builder forums and see how many offer "PR9 backlinks".

And then you see how many give a raving review about the backlink service with the (alleged) "PR9 links". Sorry it just makes me sick.

As to the OPs defense, he actually mentioned "PR9 forums", he is not one offering "PR9 backlinks", he doesn't deserve a bashing..but those other people do and i see them almost every day. (Still a difference to say "you get links from a PR9 forum..or blatantly claiming "you get PR9 backlinks")

If you create profile links do you bother targeting a root pr since all profiles links are created equal?

have you had much success improving the pr of a profile link to match or get close to the root pr? just curious if its worth trying to improve profile links I've created. I backlink these links but only for indexing purposes. thanks

to be honest, i do very little with profile links myself.

Although there is an approach to backlink a number (50 or so) "tier1" profile links with many thousands of "tier2" backlinks...(which is said to be VERY effective). Although i really don't know what the criteria for "Tier 1" profile link is supposed to be.
(Probably high PR on the main domain or profile on an authority site).

BUT..the principle is the same..and it needs to be proven that profile links are better or worse than doing the same eg. with articles.

Anyway..backlinking backlinks IMO is good and far better than "force pinging" or submitting..that way the links can be found more naturally. I think in the long run its far more effective to spread out 1000s of backlinked backlinks..2 or more layers...very effective strategy.

Not sure if that is tongue in cheek....Seriously. I got beat down like a red-headed
step-child. Still do. But I take the lumps and move on. It's not newbie
bashing. It's people pointing out flaws and actually doing the opposite of
bashing: Wishing people to succeed, steering people in the right direction,
etc.

I don't think cnet's forum is PR9. More like PR7. And because people are
under the fantasy of getting a PR7 link, the TOS of that forum are not
going to allow it. That's why I have always had a disdain for these lists
anyway. It's a call of action to go out and spam.

thanks.

for me personally forced pinging hasn't really increased the index rate and other than using autmated software I do very little in this regard.

I haven't tried to increase the pr of profile links but I do however like the idea. turning the high 'root' pr profile links into a tier 1 link and blasting away with tier 2 links seems to make sense (similar to high pr articles etc).

I'm just guessing but do you think the targeted profile links would be high pr root domains on niche related sites?

can anyone recommend a service that offers targeted high pr dofollow forums?

While I agree PR is all about the page, there's other benefits to having profile links on high PR forums as opposed to low PR forums.

First is traffic. While PR isn't a straight correlation, I'd bet a PR9 forum gets more traffic than a PR1 forum.

High PR forums are likely to be spidered and indexed faster.

PR is passed from the homepage throughout pages on the site, so it's possible a very small amount of PR is passed to profile pages.

I'm not big on profile links or high PR. I admit that I do like a PR of 1 or higher. I just like "some" PR, it makes me feel better.

But if you're going to do it, you have to start somewhere, and you may was well start making profile links at the sites with the highest PR.

There probably isn't a big advantage to high PR forums, there almost certainly isn't any harm either. IMO, risk vs. gain says to start with high PR forums, as there's no risk and MAYBE a slight gain...But don't worry about it.

You'll find some gems out there though. Some of the older threads are the best threads. Some things change, but the principles don't. Start on the LAST page of Threads in the War Room - Find website examples of what you think you might want to do.

You may as well put the effort in to your own pages.

There's so many internal links on forums that I imagine (unless you're a v.regular poster), you'd struggle to see the benefits of the forum's root PR on your personal profile.

Root > Memberlist (if it has one) > Pages (many) > Profiles (many)

So case in a nutshell, even though you commented or added your link to a PR9 website does not mean that your link is actually on a PR9 page. But it is still important to have your link on a PR9 website because that site will more likely get spidered by Google more often. Therefore ScrapeBox is still a valuable tool. I was getting a little concerned.

Sometimes in our comments on certain topics we can really send people away from the truth not purposely but in our way of explaining things. Basically concerning SEO techniques is it either works or it doesn't - it's either good or it's bad.

Personally I think that the number of people out there doing what we do is relatively small and there is enough room in the cyber universe for us all to make a healthy living for a long time.

Let's tell each other the simple truth.

Even thought the page where you link is doesn't have a good page rank you still get some link juice from the homepage.
