I bought a domain from Namecheap, it had a history

I always thought domain registrars are like new car dealers. It seems the domain was registered but never used. I found it on a domain expire list.

Yes. Domains almost always have a history. Some good... some bad. If the domain was registered and never used that's a plus. It can't have a "bad" history at least.

but yes every domain has a history, unless its a virgin domain that no one has purchased before ?
