Default Does anyone know if directories are ethical?

About directories, I have been thinking for quite a while now. Is there anyone who knows if the directories are ethical in any way? Is there any concern with ethics in this matter? Is there anyone who can define directories? What is more important nowadays, monetization or ethics? Since quite a while, I have been trying to determine the truth in this matter. Often, to get their website listed on top of search engine listings, many SEO consultants and website owners offer money. I don’t think that they care much about ethics. Good investment is needed for good directories. Any comments?

I'm not sure I understand the premise of your questions.

Directories and ethics are two separate things with no direct relationship. A directory could be operated in an ethical, or unethical manner.

Same goes for monetization and ethics, the existence of one does not imply the absence of the other. It seems that you thought process has somehow been corrupted by socialist propaganda. Communism is based on a lie and it exploits what Stalin referred to as "useful idiots" to gain power and enslave nations. Don't be a lemming!

Ethics? How's this for ethics:
99.999999% of directories on the web are junk.
Spend your time time doing something else.

Directory listing is good for your site. I think choosing the right niche, submitting your site to correct category and getting high PR directories will help your site’s ranking improve. It has nothing to do with been ethical or not.

Making money is unethical?
What moral standing does google have over other people's intellectual property?

Concur with Paul. NEVER pay to get in them that is lunacy. I auto-submit to them as a base fro new sites then forget about them.
