Default Google vs All Others Link Count

Hi Warriors,

I've been getting backlinks to two sites for about six weeks now. The backlinks are primarily on blogs but some are on Squidoo and EZA.

One site shows 381, the other 626. Google hows 0. A large number of these are from about 5 blogs but there are 20-25 unique sites in addition.

Can anyone tell me why Google hasn't picked any of these up?

JD

According to yahoo, one of my websites has 215k back links.

According to Google webmaster tools, it has 55k back links.

According to Google public, it has: 39 back links.

What I've heard from a couple of SEO experts, is that Google rarely shows all of a sites backlinks on purpose.

This is to prevent their algorithm being figured out.

If this is true, they will probably show some of your backlinks eventually.

But don't expect them all to show up, even though most of them will probably still count, despite them not appearing.

Why on earth do you expect a company that spent a fortune on gathering that data show you that data in real time, up to date and for free? Only expect a company to show you that data if it benefits them (ie it benefits google to show traffic estimations for the PPC clients etc).

I wouldn't call six weeks behind exactly real-time or up to date. Would you?

Are you saying six weeks isn't long enough for Google to find 'any'?

well I wonder whether Yahoo will punish a site if it have to many links to a same site. I have a blog which have a plenty links to another one and yahoo picks none of those.

No, I am saying that they are not going to find those links, until they find other links pointing to those pages.

It can take months for them to find a page with your links, and even never.

@JD-Sanders - The best way to check whether or not Google knows about your link is to check the text cache of the web page.

If Google has indexed the page where you're link lives, it knows about it's existence. (Whether or not it's passing on authority to your website is an entirely different discussion all together.)

If you want a faster updating and larger sample of the backlinks that Google is picking up be sure to sign up for good ol' Google Webmaster tools. They provide more updated link data there.

I just completely ignore what Google says about links. They never seem to reveal any kind of accurate information. I use yahoo site explorer and I always assume that Google knows more than they do. The reason? Google has a stronger web presence. Most of the time Google finds and rank my sites in the top ten before yahoo or bing has even indexed them.

If your backlink pages Google Cache includes your backlink, Google knows about it.
