Automated Bookmarking

First, what is social bookmarking.

If I go to a social bookmarking site and bookmark a piece of content, what effect does it have other than to provide me a link on that bookmarking site?

Is there a list of the top bookmarking sites available and, like submitting your content to directories is it best to do the top ones manually?

I see alot of tools out there, like socialbot/bookmarking demon etc, and i am wondering doe the work?

Is there redundancy in using two of them?

Any suggestions on how to use social bookmarking for a piece of content would be great

bookmarking sites can give you links to your sites. Automated bookmarking tools you can use as well as the ones mentioned are imautomator.com, auto social poster, slick social, only wire and if you don't mind doing a bit of work social marker. For free services im automator and social adr are excellent.

Do I need to have an account to access the social bookmarking to be able to post a link? I really don't want to be in the public social networking if possible. I heard from
my daughter that everybody needs an account to be able to access it. I really want to
try all the ways to get all back links to website. Any advice on this thing please.

Of course you need account for posting private/public links to social bookmarks. But some of them allow you to post private links to and these links can bot be seen by others.
And about automated social bookmarking tool, however i don't like these softwares and don't use them, but Bookmarking demon and social poster are better than the others as i checked them.

I just bought socialbot- as I would expect of anything of this nature, a few sites had errors that it would not submit to. No problem-

however, much bigger problem ts that it said 'completed' - to numerous submissions, implying it was a success. Log in to the accounts manually to check.. no posts. It did nothing, even with some submitted 3 or 4 times saying 'completed.' Then, one or two would work here and there to know it's not totally bugged out or that my username and password were incorrect. In one instance, one of the submissions went through to one site but not the other, even if i re did it several times.

If everything has to be checked and often doesn't work, that could make this more time consuming and frustrating than manual. I'd be curious to hear others' experiences.

I use social adr it's good and reasonably priced. You can also try onlywire and can use it for free when you add a code to your site.

Social bookmarking is a major tool in SEO now a days but you must learn first how to do that properly. Simply making a profile is not a solution but you must actively participate in those sites and sites should be large in numbers if you really want to increase your traffic. Its a hard work but worth to do.
