Hi there, I have numerous mini sites and a few big ones all targeted at specific keywords. How do you guys go about "checking the rankings for specific kW-s". I use my own Google ( it is set to our country by defaults ). I also use pagewash . com and scroogle . org A lot of times there are huge differences like #10 , #39 ... How do I know where I am ? I am mostly interested in how US citizens see it. And for God sake dont answer google.com ... Looking forward to your replies. Sincerely, Buyseech |

Try a plugin like seobook or something for the firefox toolbar. Different ranking results can depend on different data centres within a region or country. There is no standard result that is uniform. Overtime, as your sites climb, they could all be a uniform #1 from data centre to data centre. And I hate to say it, but your ranking in google.com is how U.S. citizens see it.

Market Samurai is my SEO tool of choice and gives the most accurate data on both your google position and your page 1 competition (along with craploads of other useful info). Having said that, pagewash.com is about the most accurate thing I've used to check my position when I'm too lazy to fire up MS. It's normally identical to the data Market Samurai shows and it jives with my traffic data as well. For sure you can't simply go to google and trust the numbers, even if you are not logged in there are various algos that will skew the data (which I'm sure you are aware of). There's also a tool I used a while back from seohosting.com - this one. I wouldn't trust it completely but it's a good reference marker. |
