1,900 KWP, EMD .com, #3 on Google page 1, No Traffic??

I have chosen a niche with 1900 exact global and local monthly searches. I own the .com domain name and am ranked #3 on Google page #1. The site in #1 spot is PR 2 and the site in #2 spot is PR 0.

I'm not getting any traffic let alone any Adsense clicks.

What am I missing?

You probably need beter Meta Descriptions and titles so that your listing in the serps draws searchers eyes to your website. you should also build more backlinks using your main keyword in the anchor text so that you can take over the number one spot. backlinkteam.com has some very good packages and only create manual high pr backlinks. hope that helps

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a long way to go with back links to try and upset the position #1 and #2.

Meta tags look pretty good, but I'll take a closer look.

Meta Description and Title are going to be KEY to grabbing the searcher's attention! You're going to have to grab there attention in the 3rd spot... Or keep on truckin and get that #1 spot.

What is it something like 90% of users click the first result?! For a longtail keyword that probably means 98% are going to click the first spot if something else doesn't catch their attention....

Install webmaster tools and check the impressions on the keyword section.

Good point. Use Rank Checker plugin by SEOBook.com for FireFox and Pagerank checker SEO SERP web tools: Google Top 1000 SERPs checker: results many countries Google Pagerank SERPs index results web SEO tools (I like this one - pretty accurate usually). You could also search for your keywords with:

I like to spread everything out when checking ranking... B/c almost every tool is going to report a little differetly (most of the time), but that's just how search engines/ip/location work!

Also, have you tested the Ads that you are showing? Size, Font, Color, Position?! Turn off Interest based advertising.

No, through your AdSense Account.

My Account to Account Settings to Interest-based Ads Preference... Voila!

Have you tried keyword tool, to get a better idea on keywords with less competition to get to the number one spot? Just a thought.

Why would you leave it on?! The whole purpose of having AdSense on a researched, highly-targeted micro niche site is b/c you want that Ad revenue... So you want the Ads on your site to reflect the content (keywords) on/in your site! Right?!

If you have a "How to Gut Sea Lions" site, you don't want a "Horse Riding" ad to be displayed for the user that's visiting your page b/c they searched for horse riding lessons a couple minutes ago.... Firstly, the ads will be irrelevant to your site - they could be worth $0.13 per click. Then again, they could be $70 per click LOL!

But if you researched your niche/keywords properly, then you should have an idea of what the CPC for your keyword... one of the main reasons you went with that keyword anyway?! Right?! So display Ads relevant to your site = get the CPC for your researched keywords/niche!

Make sense sort of?! Too much caffeine today! Lol!

I don't do AdSense sites anymore - It's basically what I started with though and learned ALOT about on- and off-site SEO, researching, yada yada yada...

The preset is to have interest based advertising ON... I believe... Anyways the point of my story is mine was ON! When I turned it off I noticed a MONSTROUS difference in Clicks and $$$!

Are you literally not getting any traffic or is it such a small amount compared to what you were expecting? And I don't understand how you are getting 1900 global AND local monthly searches. Anyways, at 1900 global exact matches that's about 64 searches every single day and if the top result is very appealing it can get as much as 50% or more of the traffic leaving only 32 searches per day.

The top three spots always get the bulk of the traffic but what exactly are your traffic statistics?

I am getting 5 or less unique visitors per day. Adwords Keyword Tool shows 1,900 for *both* local and global monthly searches. I can't explain why they are the same.

One of my two keywords has a "British" spelling using the letter "c" in place of the letter "s' as it's spelled in the United States.

i.e "football offence" and "football offense"

I rank third on Google for both spellings. I thought this would be ad added boost, but I guess time will tell.

Maybe because local = all global. That is not good anyway and you should start working on creating backlinks.

Nice looking site. You might not be getting any clicks simply b/c you've got ALOT going on on your site. Real easy for the Ads to get lost - It took me a hot second to spot the ad in the sidebar... You need a horizontal Ad at the top of your page, under the Final logo pic. Ads above the page fold typically get the most clicks and are the most visible.

It's very easy for AdSense to get lost among LOTS of content and pictures. Most "AdSense" sites are dreadfully boring looking... They may have some good content, but typically the MOST visibly appealing thing on the page is well placed AdSense!

This could be a major reason why you aren't seeing the traffic you want to see.
This this type of search level, your most likely should only see 63 visits a day, and that's if they are looking for your content.

Take a look at what you are doing for promotions.

LOLOLOL! My bad! I did a search for both variations of football offen/c/s/e and saw the same site @ the 3 spot so I looked at it. Blah!

If you are doubting the search volume then add your site to Google Webmasters Tool. After few days you will be able to see how much impressions your site gets for the keyword.
It must show 50-60 impressions daily. As for people visitng your site, it will show that too. It will display how many of those 50-60 people came to your site.
