Default Does Google factor in page traffic when evaluating the quality of a backlink?

In other words, if you take two identical backlinks, except that one comes from a page that gets 5000 uniques a day and the other comes from a page that gets 5 uniques a day, does Google place more value the first link than the second?

If that's all you got, the answer would be no.

Sheer traffic will not signal anything.

You have to look at the overall picture, like PR, authority,
and even relevance of the backlinking page.

I suppose you could make some conjecture about a site just
by traffic numbers, but nothing that would hold water until you
did further checking. There are some very high traffic pages that
I would steer clear of.

Paul is right. The amount of traffic a site gets (or doesn't get) will not play a role in the authority of it's backlinks. I have a site that just went up in PR that gets virtually zero traffic (it was for backlinking purposes), but the backlinks from that site will have more Authority, more weight, than a site that gets 1000 hits a day w/ a PR of less...

Of course you could, if the site that your link is on gets a ton of traffic, OBVIOUSLY that's going to increase your odds of getting some "click!"

Hope this kind of makes sense!??

CHEERS!

CHEERS!
I was going to say that, until I thought more about it. I too, would pick a high
traffic site, but there has to be a caution. It may be mindless traffic with
little worth. But the answer to the original question still is that traffic is not a factor
for a backlink's worth to google.
