Default Results of my WF Article Forum Experiments

I originally posted this on my blog, but I thought maybe you guys who wonder if they should pony up for the new WF Article Forum might want to see this:

..... Reasons for using the Warrior Forum Article Forum
  1. To strut your stuff – be seen as an expert in your niche. [BTW, all articles have to do with online or offline marketing.]
  2. Get the people on the Warrior forum to click on your links and join your list or buy your stuff.
  3. Get your article indexed quickly and ranked high in the Google search engine so everyone else can find you too. Traffic is the game-changer.
So I’m testing #3 above. I quickly wrote an article and posted it on the WF Articles Forum and this is what I see:

  • It was indexed by Google in less than 11 minutes.
  • The article ranked #4 for my primary keyword phrase (no quotes) out of 542,000.
  • It ranked #22 for another keyword phrase I only stuck in the article once – not in the title or opening or closing paragraphs – just to see how it would do. That was out of 842,000. Wow! Just think if I’d used it more in the article.
Now to compare that, I also posted the article here on my blog. These are the results:
  • It, too, was indexed quickly. I forgot to check right away, but it was there when I checked at 17 minutes.
  • The article/post from this blog was ranked #190 for my primary keywords (as opposed to #4 via the Warrior Forum Articles Forum).
  • As for the secondary keyword mentioned once in the article, I searched through 30 pages of Google search and did not find it. Pffft.
I think these results speak volumes! I know it’s better to show up in the search engines with the link pointing to your own site, but if it’s a competitive keyword you’ve tried to get on page 1 to no avail, then having them find you via the WF link is the next best thing, IMHO.

The article has my author’s bio with links to my site, plus readers will see my WF signature which includes a nice clickable banner now.

* Oh, and another added bonus to this whole thing… I can write articles about PLR, which is HUGE for me since EzineArticles won’t accept any articles that even have the word PLR in them.

Today's Experiment -

This morning I had an article approved at EZA, and just as soon as it was approved I put the same article on the Warrior Forum Article Forum. I just did a quick search for the article and this is what I see:

So... Warrior Forum shows up as #1 and EZA as #2 in this experiment.
I'd love to hear anyone else's results!
I have to say I'm loving it. Thanks Allen!

Peggy

I have no doubt the article section works extremely well - but many of us do not work in the IM or make money niche. I may change that myself and add such a site just to use the article directory at WF

I've been on the fence regarding the article forum, mainly because I'd have to generate some more content, and my plate is relatively full at the moment.

However, Peggy just lit a fire under my butt.

I know, Kay. I'd love to be able to submit articles here in my other niches too.

Hey, maybe we can talk Allen into opening it up? Having topic divisions in the Articles Forum for other niches?

I understand Allen's point - if opened to "everything" it would quickly be inundated with "niche articles" and probably be useless quickly.

I have a domain I've had unused for years and things I might slap a site up on it and start writing about IM here and there.

Do you mean getting good rankings in the search engines? For me, that was courtesy of the powerful link juice of the WF. Unfortunately, you can't post articles here for non-IM niches.

But you can write and submit those real estate articles to EZA.
1. Take the time to find your best keyword phrase(s) and then write your articles around those.
2. Offer incomplete information in your article so they'll want to click on your link to find out more.
3. Write an interesting article. I believe in quality over quantity but there are many here that will tell you qantity is more important.
4. Have a great call to action in your awesome bio.

There are lots of threads here on the WF on article marketing with valuable information.

If that's not what you meant, I apologize!

Thanks,
Peggy

Useless how?
Yes, for people wading through all the articles to find ones they'd like to put on their blogs.

But if all you're after is the rankings you'll get courtesy of this site, then I don't think it's useless.

While I'd certainly love fellow warriors to find and read my articles, the search ranking is what's got me jazzed.

A single test is not conclusive. I would bet that the blog performs as well as the article directory. Thing is, you cannot put promotional posts on the blog anyway so it's a bit of a moot point.

One thing I've noticed from the posters to this directory is that hardly anyone is using basic keyword optimisation! I was shocked to see such a thing on Warrior Forum.

I have some other investments in mind right now but as soon as I can, I'll be posting there too.

A major reason why IM content ranks so high on here is because this is an IM site. The ranking power would probably be diminished if it were opened up. I personally would not want to see this happen, even if it might be funny to see EZA sweat

Agreed, it's not conclusive. But I like what I see anyway.
And I know in the beginning of the Article Forum it did seem like keywords were sometimes forgotten, but I haven't checked on the more recent articles.

Ahhh... I get what you're saying about the ranking power. Thanks!

Hey Peggy, thanks for doing the work and posting the results on here for us. I guess it shows I may have to get some of my old articles and post them in there. Kind of busy with other stuff right now as well, but it would probably be worth investing in the article forum. Thanks.

Lol. Re: the 2nd experiment, that's not my whole title, I just got lazy and only put in the first part of it in Google. I was looking for my article only, not my keyword phrase. I wanted to see who had it at #1 - EZA or WF.

The "Blogging For Fries" part of the title was to capture curiosity. We'll see how that works...

Hey Chad,
As pointed out, this isn't conclusive, but to me it looks to be worth it. I wish I had more old articles to post here, but 99% of them are on non-IM topics.

cool thanks for the info! i hired some va's from odesk to start backlinking, Ill be doing fb targeted ads, and hopefully I can find some jv's to believe in us and take us on and run it through their system. Its tough being new with a new product and no sales (online) to back it up to get someone to support you. But, I spent 15 years in the music industry promoting unknown bands and artists, and those that believed in me, our record company, and our band/artist supported us early and paid dividends in the long run. Hopefully I can take that similar strategy and employ it here in the world of online marketing and promotions.

When I started writing articles, I realized that I could occupy more than one of the top ten listings in the search results, for a variety of keywords, with various articles on other people's sites.

In the end, it does not matter to me where they read my article.

Whether on my site or someone else's site, the payday is made more likely when the reader clicks the link in my resource box.

See... It really does not matter where they find your article, if when they reach your resource box, they visit your sales page or whatever page you directed them to in your resource box.

Yes, your reputation, or lack of it, is so important. It is hard when you're first starting out and no one knows you. Even though you know what you've got is good, they don't see you or don't trust you or already have a full plate.

That's why it's great to build relationships, especially here on the WF. Do a little give before you take.

It sounds like you've got a plan and you're not afraid to jump in there. Your past experience should help tremendously!

Good luck!
Peggy

It is really a no brainer. Here, there are much less ads to distract your reader and NONE in the article body, itself.

An article directory that is supported by ads is at odds with an article author's goal. The more ads clicked, the less people left to even get to the resource box. Even having 2,000 views, if 5% click away to an ad, that is 5% less to get to your link. In MOST directories I have seen, two links in a resource box are competing with 20+ ad links. PLUS most of the ad links are above the resource box links. Anyone with a good CTR on a free article directory ought to really rock on this article forum, even if it is under EZA in the search engines, the CTR can make up for that and more! As has been pointed out, being above a free directory is more common? So with better placement AND a better CTR, if you are in the IM/Off-line niches, you cannot afford to NOT publish here (or any no-ad directory site). It just makes sense.

I do know that the blogs here do well too. That's why Allen changed the rules that they could only be posts related to IM.

Before that, I remember posting to my WF blog about an article writing challenge I was participating in and I had to go back in and remove the name of my articles I'd mentioned in the body of my posts because my WF blog posts were ranking higher than my actual articles.

Thanks,
Peggy

I have tested it, but not with the kind of documentation the OP brought.

No duplicate issues here as the content is not duplicated on my own site. I've got the article on the WF, on EZA, on my blog, and who knows how many sites will pick it up and paste it on their blogs.
