Default Site Structure --- Silos, etc. -- Still Important?

Hello

Is silo structuring still a good thing to do? Any websites / products explain how to do it properly?

Thank you. Do the silos ever link back, upwards?

I am looking into building a silo structure in wordpress.

But what is weird to me is this:

Imagine someone is deep inside one of the 'silos', reading an article.

Do they only have one navigational option -- the next article?

Or do they have access to all the pages on the website?

According to my research, they only have one option.

But this seems like something Google wouldn't like, as their goal is to provide content. And when a person surfing a site cannot get more content, they leave the site.

What you see on a web page isn't always what you think you see.

Both pages below are the same (url), how many links do you see (don't count the .pdf file)?

1) Original page

2) Google Cache page

Of course it is very important. Here is a good guide for it:

Yukon's link in post #2 has some excellent info on site structure, this is a quote:

There's virtual silos and real silo site structures

Virtual silos are achievable via site interlinking methods.

Here's a blog post that shows you how to do that:

Real silos are built via site design that has true focus on visitor aesthetics and easy navigation.

Yes, siloing a site is highly recommended.
