I have a client that for some reason has a domain alias. I didn't even know what this was, but here's the what I learned: "A Domain Alias allows additional domain names to all lead to the exact same locations on your original website. For example, if you are hosting your domain name "original.com" with us and added a Domain Alias for "alias.com", then original.com and Autodesk - Autodesk Alias Products would take a visitor to the exact same pages of your original.com website. original.com would bring someone to the exact same page as http://alias.com/somefile.html. With a Domain Alias, the URL in the address bar of the user's browser stays exactly as they typed it." When you do a search for my client's business name, his website appears in the first two listings showing different domain alias names. He wants to know how he can make them all the same and the domain name he wants. I asked him why he wants to do this and he said he wasn't really sure. He has no idea how it may affect his SEO. I don't have much of an opinion on this and was wondering if you can give me some information to take back to him. For example, if you don't think it matters, then please tell me how I can prove this to him. Thanks for any advice you may have. I know this is a weird one. |
