Default A bold PR prediction...

It's gone...

Hi thebitbotdotcom,

I assume you mean toolbar display of PR, not actual PageRank used internally by Google's algorithm, right?

I still think Google is going for a continuous PageRank update. I have seen PageRanks change for various sites, and if Google were no longer reporting PR, you wouldn't expect this to happen.

And although Google has no legal obligation to disclose their operations, I would think they would announce if PageRank were never going to be updated again. It seems like a pretty big secret to keep under wraps indefinitely.

Yes, of course I mean toolbar PR.

I know they are up dating continuously. Perhaps they are not releasing the results all at once hoping that the PR hype simmers down...

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Take look at this thread on the Webmaster Central forum:

PageRank Distribution Removed From WMT - Webmaster Central Help

Where they say:

Really? It seems odder to me to do a blog post saying "Hey, check out our product--it no longer has X functionality! We removed it because we believe you don't need to pay attention to it... so we're doing this blog post to remind you not to pay attention to it." :-P
Seriously, though, we've been recommending for some time now that site owners stop focusing so much on PageRank, so it seemed a natural progression. I'm actually kind of surprised that it created as much buzz as it did.

Very interesting thread you found on the G Forum. This is HIGHLY debatable! I honestly don't see how they could do away with PR, unless Google were to replace it with a more advanced method of calculating site value. (No, not cubestat)

CHEERS!
