What to use to create the website: Wordpress or xsitepro?

Hi everyone,

I've read a decent bit of information about using wordpress to create websites, as it supposedly will help the site rank better (with certain plugins, ect).

I'm still very new to web design, seo, ect, and usually use xsitepro to make websites.....am I missing out on a significant advantage by not using wordpress?

Also, the websites I have made aren't "blog" type websites. They are just websites for my business (I'm an insurance broker). But that being said, I don't see any reason that I couldn't start making the sites more "blog" oriented if it's really going to help the site obtain a higher ranking in the search engines.

Just wanted to hear your thoughts; thanks in advance!

I wish I had a copy of Xsite pro. It looks like a great program. I use Dreamweaver. I hate the look of blogs. It's just me, but a blog isn't a "real" website.

Building a CMS is so time consuming though.
I'd rather use Drupal or Wordpress (it doesn't have to look like a blog!)

I use Dreamweaver too, and also build stuff with the MODx CMS. No need to drop DW skills as can import my xhtml and css files into MODx (creating a template from xhtml) and then have best of both worlds.

XSitePro looks good but it makes use of old-world-tech tables for layout. Not very efficient, and horrible to work with nested tables and silly image files for layout. Learn xhtml and CSS. You do not need super skills to build a really nice site. For blogs, use the CMS - which is equally good for standard sites too.

I use wordpress for most of the sites I build. I've never had any problems with it and definitely prefer it over Joomla, Drupal, Blogger, etc. It's really easy to use and easy to learn.

I'll use Wordpress - basically just for domains that I'm posting lots of content on. I'll search through hundreds of themes and find one that I like the look of and then edit it to my needs.

I prefer HTML/CSS sites simply because I'm better with HTML code. Again, I'll just look through HUNDREDS of templates. Find one that I think has and ok look and then gut and edit it with TextPad!

My editor for Wordpress and HTML/CSS websites is TextPad! Lol!

Oh, OP - Use Wordpress blog platform if you're going to be adding lots of content regularly. If not Xsitepro and an HTML site will fit you just fine. I think it's easier to optimize HTML pages for search engines. Just my opinion.

I use wordpress. It's simple to use and also you can make a static site with only 5 pages.

Is xsitepro free? I haven't tested it.

Xsitepro is not free (I believe you can get free trial DL though?!)

NVU is free and very similar to Xsitepro IMO.

wordpress is not magic, but is highly liked because it's super easy. It's also easily hacked. In fact one well known warrior currently has a hacked WP install and has had for a couple weeks. I mailed him, but no response. I don't like blog like sites, even with a "non blog" template, WP is still cumbersome. A static site that you control headers footers and menu areas over is so much easier in my opinion. A little php or some ssi and you are good to go.

This has been VERY common especially among individuals who have downloaded "free" wordpress themes. Little malicious code gets lost among the PHP quite easily.... Someone was complaining about "Just Host" (I think that's the name of the hosting service) and like 15 of his WP sites being hacked.

Luckily, the only experience I've ever had with a site getting "hacked" was a crappy iFrame spammer redirect. Bastards in Malaysia... or Asia... or Something... No Offense

The good thing about WP though is that your info is stored on the MYSQL database, so if need be, FTP up brand new WP files (ie. wp-admin, settings)

This should be a huge red WTF flag.

Talking about wordpress, does anyone knew about talian adsense theme? Is there a malicious hack code in it? By the way if you never use talian adsense theme try to use it. Definitely you wanna check that out and also the massive passive plugin.

It will surely generate a lucrative income.

I suggest you to use Wordpress specially when you are new in this area. Using wordpress is so easy and it takes less than some hours for you to be familiar with most parts of it and you easily can post and manage your blog/website when you use it. It also has many free plugins which can help you when you expect more features from it.

How bout this.... Wordpress is a GREAT PLATFORM TO MAKE SOME AWESOME SITES!!! When you find your golden template PM myself or Orvn so we take a look at the script for you. There is A LOT of good out there, but also A LOT of malicious garbage that looks good...

Better safe than sorry right?!

Yeah, yeah, yeah... they contribute. Have you read or watch news?

I heard some of the news people start to freak out because they been hacked.

So far XSitePro has been quite intuitive for me (with its Word-style designer) and it's been really helpful, with descriptions of various functions shown as you customize them (for example, the purpose of setting up redirect pages, pop-ups and more). For someone new to website design such as myself, it's been the perfect introduction.

Couldn't agree more, XSitePro is a website design software that really works brilliantly for beginners. I may not be a beginner any more, but I still use it frequently to build websites to this day.

I have had XsitePro for a few years and was and still am overwhelmed whenever I set up a site. Have only set up a couple of sites and they look bad because I won't spend the hours upon hours of time it might take to make a professional site.
With Wordpress I actually have a site online with only two clicks.

XSitePro is actually very classy software, saving you a lot of time and hassle once you get the hang of it.

Wordpress can be easily hacked and needs a lot of 'pampering'.
