Default Backlinking is dying

My native language is not English, some grammar errors may occur.

I don't know what to think. I'm a net intrepreneur and I get all my income from my websites. I have done websites and backlinks from many last years.

Last summer I made the test: I published websites which have the same niche (and same keywords). For some sites I got only 30 backlinks and some many hundreds and more. backlinks are from same sources: forum profiles, dofollow blogs, link directories etc.

Those sites which have only that 30 backlinks are high in Google serps but those sites what are heavily backlinked are now about on position about 100 in Google.

So, I think backlinking is dying and fast. And I think also that there is Google-people who really manually check for new sites and determine are these sites crap or quality content.

I do not think you are drawing your conclusions correctly..

Backlinking isn't just about quantity. It's more about quality.
Did you weigh the relevance of the backlinks?
How about the PR?
And Whether or not they're Nofollow's?

I don't think backlinking is dying. At least not yet.

I am sure however, that backlinking as we know it will indeed "die" with the emergence of the semantic web / Web 3.0.

Not so much death really, as reinvention.
It only makes sense.

If backlinks were dying, what you would see in the SERPs would be total and utter randomness. You'd see sites with 4 forum profile backlinks ranking in the top 10 for all the competitive keywords, and they're be right up against sites with 20,000 links. But you don't see that.

Backlinks are still king, and for every story that you hear about how backlinks didn't do the job, you hear 10 more about how they did.

Just my two cents...

Building links from sources like this:

forum profiles, dofollow blogs, link directories etc...

...Will only see diminishing results now, and into the future.

This has nothing to do with backlinking dying.

More to do with Google getting better at distinguishing relevant citations over manipulation....

Your right that Google employ people to do manual reviews, but this would only happen on lucrative keywords above a certain PPC threshold...

...My guess would be anything above $2 per click :-)

Backlinks seem to be working as good or better than ever for me. Is it the quality of your links that are the issue?

whoever said backlinking is dying is not thinking it through. If you think you know all the backlinks for a site then you are mistaken. You cannot see all the backlinks to a site just by using free tools available there. There are many backlinks which you may not have discovered which are doing the works in the background. So keep building them. You will attain your goal at some point.

You can't tell like that with one test. All methods work fine if we use it in proper way. Still Google count powerful backlinks.

Hi.. Never and ever think that back links are dying... search engines will promote your site only based on number of back links to your site and the loading speed of your website.. so, More the back links you have better the place you get.. All the best.. THANK YOU...

Backlinks still work great for all websites. I think the reason was quality of backlinks. Maybe you have made thousands of backlkinks for some of your websites form low quality pages and even maybe they didn't get index at all. So you should know that quality of backlinks is far more important than quantity of them. Quality backlinks still work for your and any other website.

I don't think the importance of backlinks is going away anytime quickly.

This is the way I see it:

If you get a flux of backlinks come in, this will be a signal, but the G algo has to determine if this is a signal for a surge of organic interest in the site or if it is spam.

There are a number of factors that can contribute this signal. e.g.

Has the site/page already established trust through keeping some quality trusted links for a good period of time. If so, it will be more robust to being labeled as a spam signal.

Is there an event that could have triggered this interest. i.e., did all these links follow a reference in the NYTimes for example.

Is the speed of link acquisition operating according to what would look like an organic profile.

Are the links those types that are commonly spam signals.

Sometimes you can test the same link building method on different sites and get different results (because for example one of the sites has already established a degree of trust through its existing backlinks).

Additionally, you can generate a lot of links, but if the influx is labeled as a spam signal, this will not help your rankings, while generating say 30 links may not trigger any negative signals.

This is more the way I see it anyway.

...This is the way to approach link building!

Link building should be seen as a marketing vehicle and the sad fact is that we all want the easy solution...

Good explaination man, Kudos Buddy!

Quality over quanity is the main thing when building backlinks,if you do it right it certainly pays in the end and its also ongoing all the time its not something you do once when you start a new site and then forget about.

Yah slightly correct.

Anyway, try Deep Linking so that it wont be obvious. Not just your hompage but try to generate more backlinks to your sub domain directories.

example: example.com/backlink-is-not-dying

Try to generate backlinks to that url not on the example.com

So that it won't look kinda spammy.

Otherwise if you online get more backlinks to your homepage only and not using deep backlinking, google would figure out and you know what would exactly happen by that..

Especially nowadays a lot of online free jobs are popping right now. So you can't control the way internet goes. Let say an employer would say, hey I'll pay you to generate quality backlinks to my site. I guess there will be no ending and that's the reality indeed. Just to make sure all your content is fresh and not garbage that way you always stay at the top of page rank.

Anyway, some couple of tid bits here.

Don't lose hope they are just trying to scare you! As long as you do the right thing. Give chance to those IM newbie.
