Getting Blogger.com sites to rank?

Hey guys,

Need some experienced SEO guys to comment..

If one can't afford to go out and constantly buy domain names, can you rank a free site like blogger.com just as quickly and take out the competition on the first page..

Whether it be the #1 spot or #5 spot?

I know there is much more to seo but if you follow the rules can you outrank with blogger.com sites?

i have a blogsopt blog that after buying a custom domain name went straight to position 5 on page one, but that was after i bought my domain name but i have def seen blogspot blogs rank well without a custom domain name.

also there is a guy selling auto blog software for blogspot blogs he says he makes 4,000 a month, and none of them have custom domains

There are no doubt on it.I have found many blogspot blogs are top page in the google.Its all about unique articles and effective SEO to be used in your blog.

This blogspot is #1 in Google Search for the keyword printable coupons.

I'm sure a lot more #1 blogspots exist in the SERPs.

Most of those backlinks have the anchor-text as printable coupons.

I am doing that now. I have 1 that gets about 150 uniques a day. The more posts with some decent content the better. I also add meta tags to the html source. Blogger is 1 of the top sites on Alexa.

Of course it's possible, you may find you have to do more work in order to obtain the position, but of course it's possible, your going to want to make sure you have a good layout, your website is properly optimized and you have quality content if your serious about getting higher rankings.

They can rank as all other websites. and maybe they rank with less effort comparing to other blogs or some websites. Optimizing them is exactly like websites. You need to write unique content to them and make backlinks for your blog from quality sites, then it ranks high for your desired keyword. You can test it as its free. Choose a keyword and make a blog in blogger for it then try to optimize it and follow its position's on Google.

Back about 3 years ago you used to be able to point a single digg link at a blogger blog and it would rank for almost and medium to long tail term in about 6 hours. So we made lots

Not sure if this still works or not but the base theory I'm sure hasn't changed. I know they did devalue the blogger domain some since then. But in principle it's a domain owned by google with a high value. And then was a super high value do-follow link at the time. Not sure if Digg has changed to not a do-follow now. You'd need to do your homework.

Hi,
I have had my blogspot url in number one position on Google since January this year. Find a good keyword for your product and then build as many links as you can.

You can have your blogger blog on page 1 of google as long as you have good content and good backlinks. To me blogger is just like any other website, you have to work at it to get to the top.

Doing seo for the link of blog spot,using keyword as a anchor text will definitely bring the free blog url on the top position in all major search engines,.also to get ranked easily and quickly going for a domain name with out blog spot in the URL,..will rank you sooner

I recently had a niche site I created in blogger moving to #1 in Google It stayed there for a week and now Google dancing and appears on and off the first position. Just wondered if it will finally settle on the first position. Anyway I don't care that much as i intended it for link building only. But I documented it so you may like to know what I did to get it to no. 1.

Grizzly started an experiment about 4 years ago to see if he could get a blogspot blog to the #1 position for the highly competitive term "make money online" and he did. It was #1 up until about 6 months ago or so. Now it's gone, don't know what happened to it. He had a mountain of content on that thing.
