Real quick. I use Spyfu for this. Is there something better? What's the best system for determining if a competitor's ad is making money? I don't want to assume that just because an ad is in the top position that it's profitable. So hit me with your best system. Thanks. |

Steven, I'm not sure if this will help you but WinningAdwordAds.com and Compete.com have worked well for me. Fabian |

Yes, I am a member and have even contributed to the War Room. I have just been so busy I haven't had time to go there in a while and there is so much there, who can go through it all anyway? Talk about the bargain of the century.

Another way is to use Project 5 in Keyword Elite, punch in the keywords you want, and the site you want to analyze, let it run for about a week and it'll tell you if they dropped the keyword or kept it.

| That's exactly what I was thinking Loz. The best way to tell if an ad is making money is to see how long it stays. If it's up for any reasonable length of time, you can pretty much bet that it's making money somehow.

You could also assume that the ad is getting a ton of impressions but no clicks. If this were the case, the publisher may leave the ad running as it's not costing them any money (but not making any either).

The only way to know for sure is to clone and watch like I said unless you can peek into someone's Adwords account and affiliate stats.

| Well, the question was what's the best way not what's the cheapest or free way. You'd spend money taking a chance on an original campaign, too so what's the big difference. You're gonna spend money and you may or may not make a profit either way and if you do make a profit what's the problem?

It's still not the best way. Unless best means balance between "knowing" and spending as little as possible.

I agree in using compete.com .. it will help a lot in monitoring your competitors keywords.. one thing for sure, if your competitor is using a certain keyword for a long time then it is where they are reaping profits from..

I use iSpionage - it provides real-time competitive intelligence across all three major search engines.
