Default Maybe getting a lot of nofollow backlinks does have SEO value

I’ve been studying some sites/blogs in niches related to mine in the past few weeks and I’ve noticed an interesting thing about a few pages on a couple of these sites/blogs:

1. They rank really well on Google (1st to 3rd place) for relatively competitive searches, with monthly search volumes between 2000 and 10000.
2. They have hundreds of backlinks pointing at them, but about 99% of them are nofollow links from short, meaningless comments on small blogs.

So, I’m starting to think that nofollow links do have some value, especially if they come in large numbers. If this proves to be true, I’m considering going to those exact small blogs and commenting there myself.

What do you think?

Maybe they buy links and those 1% are really high PR links(really you're lucky to get a pr0 link organically) and they just use automated blog commenting to mask their other links.

This is a very heated topic. I've done tons of research on this on my own but it seems like some people just don't care no matter how many case studies I've done. Now, I just keep all the results to myself as you'll always see that there will be somewhere who will swear up and down that you're either a moron or blatantly lying.

The thing is that SEO is VERY competitive and there is a lot of lying going around because it can be very profitable for those people. Lets just say for example that for whatever reason having a pr 1 link for a .edu is better than a pr8 link from a .com assuming relevance and everything else is exactly the same.

For people that know this piece of information it could be very profitable for them to say that .edu is exactly the same as .com and there is nothing special to .edu links. I'm not going to comment on .edu/.gov versus the rest either though since this is also a very heated topic. Well, now you know why.

Everyone, please keep in mind that I am merely giving an example. I'm not saying that a pr 1 link from a .edu site is better than a pr 8 link from other sites, its just an example.

All links have value. The problem is nobody knows which ones have more value than the next one. Never ignore a no follow.

Backlinks from all kinds of blogs have value but from high PR sites have better value

LOL! This topic gets kicked around a lot and I get kicked around
a lot when I play with it.

If course nofollow links have some value. As far as seo, well, that
would be in the end game from whatever a nofollow link can lead
to, eg. linkbait.

People confuse nofollow with a lot of things. All it does is not
pass PR to the linked site. That's it.

But how about relavancy? Does a nofollow link pass relevancy
from a high authority, related site?

I always bring up the value of the nofollow links in twitter.

Basically, yes. They're comments like "This is really helpful" with the targeted keywords in the name box and the exact page URL in the website box.

This can be possible. I've taken a closer look at a couple of those pages and among the hundreds of nofollow backlinks they have, there are 5 or 10 dofollow backlinks from high PR blogs or article directories.

Is this a common thing? To mask you own quality backlinks by also getting lots of low quality backlinks?

Nofollow links in bulk will help you to promote to your site but in short.

Sorry for the offtopic, well NOT that offtopic but...

You can create YOUR OWN pages with PR, if thats what you want. You don't need to "buy links" to have PR backlinks, what you to do is create them.

What you need to pay is a domain name, hosting, and great unique articles.

Just the number of back-link count increase that's it,it won't remain permanent, instead it will appear only for some period of time..It is nothing but the link will be counted only once,..

Nofollow links do not pass any value what so ever. I have done extensive testing on this which was a waste of my time. The domain is probably ranking because it's a non competitive keyword.

A nofollow backlink still can give you traffic. Google pays attention to traffic in a website. Beside, other search engines do not pay attention to the nofollow tag.
