Sharing documents backlinks, are they useful?

Hey,

Last few months I've been adding articles to sharing sites like Scribd.com, Isuu.com and Docstoc.com.
Example: slideshare.net/jlenney/driving-fear-program-review
I leave a backlink in the article and upload it to the site.
But when I check Backlinkwatch.com or Yahoo Site explorer these backlinks do not show up.

What's your opinion:

Can Google spider this content?
Do these type of links pass value?
Does anyone of you use these sites? Do they show up as backlink? Is that even possible?

It's been my experience that although the link may not shpw up, the files can be read and indexed. What you are also doing, is building your profile in these sites, eventually building PR to your profile, and the profile back link becomes pretty beneficial.

I don't know about backlink from doc sharing site, but this kind of website is really good to push your SERP [ some cases at long tail keyword ]

I checked this page but i don't see any link to your website. The links in article is like a text and its not like a hyper link.
