Default Bouncerate & Index Count?

I was wondering if these two variables have large significance?

If so, how does Google measure bouncerate?

Also, as far as index count --- should one just strive to have more indexed pages than the ranking he's trying to beat?

There are many skeptics who believe that things like bounce rates are not and probably never will be part of the search engine algorithms.I take the opposite view; bounce rate will certainly be a part of the algorithms of search engines and is probably already. What I want to do here is to share with you some of the opponents of common objections and refute all but one of them.
