My top Competitor Has a PR5 Wikipedia Link. Is there any way I can get one too? How powerful are these? How does one get one? |

Yes, even the links from wikipedia are nofollow, they still pass through a huge amount of trust scores. You can get one by making your own page, or trying to contribute to the same page where your competitor is linking from. But be sure that you offer them value, to increase your chances of being listed as a reference for the page. It's best that you create a highly informative content that has the sole intent of getting listed to wikipedia pages.

Do you know anyone that specializes in this? Are there any people that do this as a service?

If it's just a reference link you can add your own as well. Or you can even remove their link... |

Don't let one pr5 back-link stand in your way. Its really not that hard to negate that link, fire up a program like SEnuke or scrape-box and get yourself a lot of high quality links, or simply just a lot of links. You will surpass him soon enough; if you spend all your time and effort on getting 1 Wikipedia link, or getting rid of his you will have likely wasted your entire time.

I have 1500 and he has about 400, and I have equal high PR ones as him but he has those wiki links, and domain age. I think his site provides a better user experience, as mine is a tacky sales pitch.. |

| I've tried that one out before, your links will just be removed. Your competitors are monitoring their strong links (since I as well check mine), so it's best to deliver quality content for resource/reference for the link to be qualified.

However wikipedia links are nofollow and they don't juice pagerank, but they are powerful backlinks and you can make your wikipedia page too and try to promote it. Then maybe other websites link to this page. Also note that this link is not the only reason that you competitor ranks probably higher than your site. I think his website has many other quality backlinks and you should check them too.

I would say at that time, although the article was pretty good... The site user experience couldn't have been more than a 6/10. If I was you, I'd tighten up the sales pitch a bit and make it look better & then add an Articles section on your website. When you add an article, just put a link at the bottom if you want them to return to your sales pitch. Then look up the relevant Wikipedia page to your article and link them directly to the article page.

If necessary, you can write a ≈1000 word article offsite, citing a whole bunch of references and then using that as a Wikipedia reference (for more than one wiki page ).Remember that when you're modifying Wikipedia in this way, make more than one change, so that it doesn't seem like you're just editing one in/out one link. Add some genuine information to the article. Really contribute: that's how you get Wikipedia links.

I have several wikipedia links for our sites. And I can definately say, that you WILL get a lot of targetted traffic through the links. As for a huge change in your SERP, since they are no follow you won't get as much as if it had been a dofollow link. But they are still good to have in your arsenal, and I would encourage you to get one if you can. |

I am planning to create links on wikipedia. And I will follow those thoughts you have shared on this thread. If i'm not mistaken, all i need to do is to update the current information and add my site on its reference plus link other information on wikipedia alone.
